<title>Supersport Performance Refined: The New Yamaha R7</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/supersport-performance-refinedthe-new-yamaha-r7</link>
    <description>
Yamaha&#039;s popular middleweight Supersport R7 elevated to new heights for 2026 to offer a more refined, confidence inspiring riding experience

R1-developed 6-axis IMU enables the introduction of a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids and YRC riding modes

Chassis modifications make for a more refined, dynamic handling experience

Revised rider position improves comfort and responsiveness

Sleek and aerodynamic next Generation R-Series design

Each model in Yamaha&#039;s iconic R-Series represents more than just a motorcycle. The R-Series is the result of a culmination of years of race-winning performance, technology, innovation and design.

Through every turn over the last three decades, Yamaha has played a pivotal role in forging new directions, and the evolution of the Supersport category is no exception to this rule.

From the introduction of the very first R1 in 1998, each R-Series model has not only made a statement but changed the game. In recent years, Yamaha have revolutionised the concept of the Supersport machine, breaking boundaries and opening doors to offer race-inspired sports bikes delivering optimal on-road and track performance, while maintaining a sensible price point.

The introduction of the CP2-powered R7 in 2021 was one of these steps, a new kind of Supersport created to appeal to a younger audience and introduce the next generation of riders to the thrills, excitement and pride of ownership that comes from owning any R -Series model, from the R125 all the way through to the R9 and the more extreme and ultimate, flagship track-oriented R1 RACE and R1 GYTR.

The evolution of the Supersport category has also been reflected on the racing scene, with the R7 proven on track as well as the road with popular R7 Cup programmes run across Europe, while the R7 was also the sole-machine chosen for the Women&#039;s&#039; Circuit Racing World Championship introduced in 2024. The significance of this middleweight Supersport class increases further in 2026 with the introduction of the all-new FIM World Sportbike Championship, in which the R7 will be eligible to compete.

For 2026 the R7 is set to scale new heights with the introduction of more enhanced technology and chassis refinements to create a perfectly balanced middleweight Supersport model.

Advanced Electronics Add Confidence and Maximise Performance

Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (Y-CCT)
The R7 now features Yamahas innovative Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (Y-CCT), which detects a riders throttle inputs with the ECU instantly calculating the ideal degree of throttle opening to match.

This results in a smoother torque curve through the entire rev range and offers a more linear feel from the now iconic 689cc CP2 liquid-cooled, two-cylinder engine.

Additionally, the introduction of YCC-T opens a whole new world for the R7 in terms of electronics, with rider modes and electronic aids introduced, following in the footsteps of the R9 allowing riders to exploit the package to the maximum and feel the thrill of the ride.

R1-developed 6-axis IMU and Electronic Rider Aids
The new suite of fully customisable electronic rider aids work in conjunction with the R1-inspired 6-axis IMU, supporting riders in gaining experience and developing confidence both on the road and on track.

Constantly measuring acceleration in the forward-backward, up-down and left-right directions as well as the angular velocity in the machine&#039;s pitch, roll and yaw directions the 6-axis IMU is able to send data in real time to the ECU which controls the new suite of electronic rider aids, all centred around building rider confidence and allowing the maximisation of the R7&#039;s potential.

This includes three power delivery modes, which alter the throttle response and engine characteristics from sporty to more mild. A three-stage, lean-sensitive traction control system (TCS) detects the difference in speed between the front and rear wheels and softens power delivery to maintain traction from the rear when necessary.

Slide Control (SCS) is also available at three support levels, detecting any slides from the rear and adjusting engine output to help control the slide, while Lift Control (LIF) detects when the front wheel rises from the ground under acceleration and adjusts the engine output to control the resulting wheelie.

Should the R7 start sliding when leaned over under braking, the Brake Control (BC) system will alter brake pressure accordingly to compensate, while a sophisticated Engine Brake Management system (EBM) can be altered between two levels to increase or decrease the level of engine brake when closing the throttle or downshifting during track riding. For added support when the rear wheel locks up due to excessive engine brake, the Back Slip Regular (BSR) controls engine torque to modify the bike&#039;s behaviour this system also adds confidence in low-grip situations.

For optimal race starts, a Launch Control system (LC) is also available when accelerating from a standing start, while another benefit for track riding is the ability to turn off the rear ABS for a more direct response to braking inputs.

The suite of electronic aids is designed to offer all riders an optimal level of support to match their riding ability, from the more protective higher settings for less experienced riders, to a lower stage of support for more experienced riders, while rider aids can also be turned fully off to suit those riding on track with a high level of experience.

Customisable Riding Modes with Yamaha Ride Control
Following the R1 and R9, the R7 will feature Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) which allows riders to select the engine power characteristics and degree from electronic aids based on personal preference or riding conditions.

Three preset riding modes include SPORT, STREET and RAIN, featuring factory settings to suit different conditions, are complemented by the option to create two Custom settings, which enable the rider to manually select their own desired settings via Yamaha&#039;s MyRide app.

Third-Generation Quickshifter and Improved Shifting
For slicker, smoother and more sporty gear changes, the number of engagement teeth for the male and female dog gears has been increased from five to six for first through to third gear. The angle of the dog gears has also been modified for fourth to sixth, reducing the effect on the bikes behaviour when the throttle is opened and closed, resulting in smoother gearshifts.

The overall shifting experience is further enhanced with the introduction of Yamahas third-generation Quick Shift System (QSS), enabling clutchless up and down shifts through to different settings, with Setting 1 allowing clutchless upshifts while accelerating and clutchless downshifts while decelerating, and Setting 2 permitting downshifts while accelerating and upshifts while decelerating to suit a wider range of both road and track scenarios.

        More refined and agile handling

More rigid and agile chassis
In search of improved rigidity to increase stability, almost every element of the R7s frame has been changed and optimised, including the pipe layout, diameter, thickness and reinforcement. The result is that the torsional, longitudinal and lateral rigidity have all been improved while maintaining the same weight as the previous frame.

To accommodate the increased rigidity, the centre brace now uses steel plates with plastic covers to achieve excellent stability when riding, while the bike&#039;s response to steering inputs and feedback from the tyres have been optimised. The swingarm has also been re-designed to offer clearer feedback from the road.

A newly designed triple clamp features a new shape, trimming away thicker parts of the previous design to optimise the feeling and strength while also now being closer in appearance to the triple clamps on the flagship R1 and R9.

To complement the chassis revisions, the R7&#039;s 41mm inverted front forks now feature aluminium (rather than steel) piston rods, reducing the overall weight by 350g and delivering a lighter, more agile handling. The front fork is also fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping, enabling minute changes to fit rider preferences and varying riding scenarios.

For the first time, the R7 will adopt Yamaha&#039;s SpinForged wheels, not only significantly reducing weight but also inertia at the wheels, allowing for lighter and more agile handling. The SpinForged wheels are fitted with Bridgestone&#039;s Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres, offering a higher level of grip.

Combined, these rolling chassis improvements, offer a refined and more dynamic handling experience from the R7, with more direct turning, improved tyre feedback and an overall calmer chassis feeling with less pitching and smooth damping.

Revised Riding Position
The R7&#039;s riding position has been modified to improve overall accessibility and riding comfort, with re-positioned handlebars making for easier upper body movement and a re-designed fuel tank allowing for greater freedom in moving forwards and backwards on the bike. This allows riders to more pro-actively shift their bodyweight when cornering and changing direction. A 5mm lower seat height, (from 835mm to 830mm) results in a more accessible chassis stance. A sharper-looking seat brings the R7 into line with the R1 and R9 while also improving rider connection and grip.

The R7 now features the footpeg from the R1, making it easier to put weight onto the pegs, increasing lower body stability when cornering.

5&quot; TFT Display, Connectivity and Intuitive Controls

5-inch TFT display
A 5-inch full colour TFT instrument display adds to the premium feel with four selectable themes for display.

Dedicated Track Mode
In addition to the four road-oriented themes, a Track Mode displays only the relevant information on the dash focusing on the lap-timer, for a true &#039;race-style&#039; dash-layout.

Intuitive handlebar switches with all-new interface
A new integrated handlebar switch assembly allows the rider to operate the R7&#039;s wider range of functions, including smart phone connectivity, navigation and riding modes as well as navigating further menu options.

For a more intuitive and convenient riding experience, the indicator switches are now auto-cancelling as well as offering a three-flash option for shorter periods of signalling.

A new Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function reacts to sudden braking by engaging the hazard lights to warn road users behind the vehicle is stopping at speed in an emergency situation.

Cruise Control and Speed Limiter
For added convenience, especially over longer distance rides, the R7 is fitted with a cruise control system which can be activated when riding at speeds of 40km/h and above in third gear and higher. After the cruise speed is set, it can be increased or decreased in increments of 1km/h with single pushes of the switch or continuously by holding down the switch. The cruise control system is cancelled when the rider selects the cancel button or hits the brake, clutch or throttle.

A speed limit can also be set for the machine, controlling engine output to ensure the motorcycle does not exceed the selected speed.

Smartphone notifications and data transfer
The R7&#039;s display can be connected to a smartphone via Yamaha&#039;s MyRide app, through the bike&#039;s onboard Communication Control Unit (CCU). This full connectivity offers the ability to show various information and images on the display, including phone calls, text messages and weather updates while a full navigation system is available through the Garmin StreetCross app.

The MyRide app can also be used to modify YRC settings, allowing the creation of new YRC modes even when away from the bike. Up to 40 different mode setting variations can be saved on the app to suit a particular road or track conditions and then uploaded to the bike when in range.

Y-TRAC Rev Feel like a racer!
Introduced with the 2025 R9, the new Y-TRAC Rev app offers riders the experience of a professional racer, with dedicated data-tracking and the option for the pit crew to communicate with the rider.

Riders can log lap times and sector times with the Y-TRAC Rev app as well as machine data, including lean angle, engine rpm, gear position, speed, throttle position and the levels of support from the electronic support systems, such as traction control. The rider can then analyse this data or compare with others&#039; data, enabling the riders to improve their times and optimise machine settings just like they do in MotoGP.

Y-TRAC Rev uses GPS location data from the rider&#039;s smartphone. Additionally, if the rider prefers to use an external GPS unit on the bike, Y-TRAC Rev also supports Garmin GLO2. Y-TRAC Rev also offers the option for a &#039;Virtual Pit Board&#039;, where the rider&#039;s pit crew can send messages to the rider&#039;s dashboard while out on track.

R7 owners can use Y-TRAC Rev for free but need a premium subscription to unlock unlimited riding logs.

Next Generation R-Series Design and Aerodynamics

Aesthetics have always been paramount to R-Series DNA, with each R model carrying key design influences from the YZR-M1 MotoGP bike. The new R7 is no different, retaining stand-out features such as the hallmark &#039;M&#039; shaped duct while receiving a sleek-new look bringing the aesthetic into line with the whole R-Series range.

Special effort has been taken to reduce the frontal area by making the width of the fairing slimmer and smoother to attain even higher levels of aerodynamic performance. The R7 retains its single centralised headlight, nestled within the iconic &#039;M&#039; to retain the narrow front dimensions and minimise weight, while a new headlight lens offers increased aerodynamic efficiency. Changes made to the shape of the chin spoiler fitted underneath the headlight improve airflow efficiency and allow a greater volume of air to be directed to the radiator.

The indicator lights are now integrated into the rearview mirrors, combined with the minimalised lighting, this accentuates the bike&#039;s skinny appearance.

    <title>New Yamaha 2026 Off Road Competition Range</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/new-yamaha-2026-off-road-competition-range</link>
    <description>
Off Road Competition is in Yamaha&#039;s DNA - in all its forms, on all levels. The numerous achievements at the highest level of racing speak for themselves, but Yamaha&#039;s commitment goes beyond competitive racing. It&#039;s about sharing the same winning performance with riders on all levels of the sport.

Yamaha&#039;s 2026 Off Road Competition range reflects this philosophy. With genuine racing DNA running through the range, Yamaha have further boosted the race-winning performance and handling of the YZ450F, redesigned the intake system and enhanced carburation of the YZ125, and made the whole range more appealing with updated colours and graphics.

Yamaha is also adding to the line-up four special 70th anniversary models. These bikes with their stunning special livery weave together the rich fabric of Yamahas past and present off road race success with the promise of maintaining the fighting spirit that keeps the victories coming in the future.

For winners, by winners: the 2026 YZ450F
The new YZ450F features a new engine, with the intake system redesigned for greater ease of use with more linear throttle response and improved control in the low-to mid-speed range. Torque characteristics have also been improved for better feel.

The exhaust has been made quieter, and the muffler&#039;s attachment angle was lowered slightly to create more space to allow easier pick up at the rear fender. The 2026 YZ450F also features a new hydraulic clutch, which eliminates the need for adjustments during racing, keeping the meshing point constant during continued riding.

The YZ450Fs frame has been further improved to achieve even greater usability, comfort and feel. To match it characteristics, the front suspension setting has been modified, further improving the feel and stability, and reducing fatigue. For the rear, a new rear suspension has been jointly developed with KYB, providing smoother transition of the damping force from the low-to high-speed range.

When the 2026 YZ450F is parked between the races, an ECU lock function enables the rider to lock the bike on the Power Tuner App. The YZ450F also delivers when it comes to looks. The new bodywork has been styled to accentuating its light and compact stance, while a new seat with anti-slide surface provides better control.

Tying the model even firmer to Yamahas past, present and future racing success is the YZ450F 70th Anniversary Edition, featuring a stunning white and red livery inspired by the iconic YZM400F.

Two strokes ahead: the 2026 YZ125
The latest YZ125 features a redesign of its intake system and optimised carburation and ignition timing to deliver more consistent and more linear power delivery, excellent throttle response and smoother corner exit, making the YZ125 even more versatile, and suitable for a wider range of riders from beginners to experts.

And with the 70th Anniversary Edition, Yamaha adds the special white and red livery to the long list of the iconic machines attributes.

Classic styling, everyday usability, and unmistakable Yamaha quality, its a brilliant blend.

XSR125 - Retro Looks With Everyday Punch

The XSR125 is a proper all-rounder. It delivers a retro-inspired design with the sort of performance that makes daily riding feel like more than just a commute. The 125cc VVA engine is one of the standouts here-smooth, responsive, and ideal whether youre weaving through town or stretching its legs on an open road.

A 6-speed gearbox keeps things slick, while the lightweight chassis and upside-down forks give the bike confidence through corners. On the style front, its got full LED lighting, eye-catching tank graphics, and a stripped-back look that gives it attitude without going over the top. For riders just starting out or looking to add a compact runabout to the garage, the XSR125 brings plenty to the table.

XSR125 Legacy - Vintage Feel With Everyday Comfort

For those drawn to classic bikes with a proper nod to the past, the XSR125 Legacy offers a slightly different vibe. Underneath, it shares the same reliable engine and nimble handling, but the styling takes things up a notch. Think spoked wheels, gold highlights, and a paint job that leans into Yamahas retro roots.

Its every bit as usable in traffic or out on a countryside cruise, but the Legacy makes its mark visually. For riders after something a bit more old-school without giving up modern performance, this ones a real head-turner.

        Which One Suits You Best?

Underneath, both versions of the XSR125 share the same reliable bones - light, fun, and easy to ride. The real difference comes down to looks. The regular XSR125 has more of a bold, modern feel with its cast wheels and graphic touches. The Legacy, on the other hand, goes all-in on its retro influence, pairing vintage touches with that same everyday performance.

<title>NMAX 125 Tech MAX wins Red Dot Award</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/nmax-125-tech-max-wins-red-dot-award</link>
    <description>
Yamaha Motor announces that its NMAX 125 Tech MAX scooter has won the globally-prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025, marking the 14th year in a row every year since 2012 that a Yamaha Motor product has received a Red Dot Design Award.

Yamaha Motors record of Red Dot wins since 2012 extended to 14 years.

The award-winning model is based on the NMAX, which has been on sale since 2015. It faithfully inherits the DNA of the MAX Series line of sport scooters popular in Europe and Japan, condensing novel styling and a sporty ride into a compact body. The 2025 NMAX was designed to be the best sport scooter aptly sized to fit the human body, i.e., the goal was to create a fun vehicle that offers a level of control that feels like it is an extension of the riders body.

The NMAX is positioned as the most user-friendly model in the MAX Series, and to take it to its next stage of evolution, Condensed Elements was the design theme chosen. While improving onboard comfort and convenience for the rider, the adoption of LED lighting for the front and rear and a new TFT instrument cluster helped achieve a more compact machine size. The NMAX 125 Tech MAX that received the award is a deluxe version and features a higher quality seat and color scheme compared to the standard model.

The Red Dot Design Awards, organized by Germany&#039;s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, are widely recognized as one of the most prestigious design awards in the world.

    <title>The All-New WR250F</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/the-all-new-wr250f</link>
    <description>
Developed from Yamahas Grand Prix winning YZ250F motocross machine and built to conquer the most technical of trails, the heavily revised WR250F features a redesigned chassis which includes key refinements for enduro riding at the top level.

A 15mm lower tank rail with a U-shape rear profile, together with revised KYB front forks and a new KYB rear shock, lowers the bikes centre of gravity, aiding cornering stability and agility. Furthermore, the bump absorption and lateral flex characteristics of the new frame soak up the shocks from uneven terrain and provide a smoother ride while also reducing rider fatigue.

To improve power characteristics, the 2025 WR250F features a redesigned high-efficiency airmanagement system complete with a new air box, drawing air from the rear through ducts in the new side panels, frame, and tank.

A newly designed short muffler enhances mass centralisation and emphasises the bike&#039;s compact, while a slimmer fuel tank, and a flatter seat to improve rider mobility. For 2025, both the WR450F and WR250F see the addition of the seamless-skin seat seen on the motocross models, while striking new Icon Blue graphics from a stylish new look.

    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/shift-into-the-futurethe-new-tracer-9-tracer-9-gt-and-tracer-9-gt</link>
    <description>
THE NEW YAMAHA TRACER 9 RANGE

The new TRACER 9, TRACER 9 GT and TRACER 9 GT+ take a clear step towards the future as Yamahas Sports Touring range sees a host of updates for 2025, heightening the sophistication of one of the companys best-selling ranges.

Powered by the thrilling 890cc CP3 three-cylinder engine, the three-bike 2025 TRACER 9 line-up redefines expectations in the middleweight touring class. The new models showcase Yamaha&#039;s innovative Y-AMT (Yamaha Automatic Manual Transmission) and cutting edge adaptive technologies including electronic suspension, cruise control and a world first Matrix LED headlight specification far beyond the category norm.

The TRACER 9 has always strived to deliver the perfect blend of sports and touring and the trio of 2025 machines is no different. The lightweight CF die-cast aluminium Deltabox-style frame has Yamaha&#039;s sporting DNA running right through it, while still coming equipped to comfortably carry a pillion and their gear in the optional three-box hard luggage system. The TRACER 9 models also receive sleek new bodywork and a larger, adjustable, windscreen designed to increase wind protection while remaining stylish, compact and sporting in its approach.

All models in the TRACER 9 range receive a highly specified 7&quot; TFT dashboard, which can be set to display one of three distinctive themes, while the TRACER GT gains electronic suspension, an electrically adjustable windscreen, heated handlebar grips, smart key system, cruise control and Yamaha&#039;s innovative Matrix LED headlight. The range topping TRACER 9 GT+ gains the full suite of radar assisted aids providing Adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and forward collision warning, in addition to Vehicle Hold Control, Unified Braking System and a tyre pressure monitoring system - truly redefining expectations of what a mid-capacity machine should be.

Y-AMT is standard equipment on the TRACER 9 GT+ and an option for both TRACER 9 and TRACER 9 GT. The addition of Y-AMT reinforces the TRACER 9&#039;s position as the ultimate multi-role motorcycle, creating a machine even more flexible and adept at taking on whatever role its rider needs and wants to take on. Equally at home carving through mountain passes as it is munching motorway miles or tackling the daily commute, the 2025 Yamaha TRACER 9, TRACER 9 GT, and TRACER 9 GT+ are the perfect companions with which to take on the Roads of Life.

2025 YAMAHA TRACER 9 RANGE KEY MODEL FEATURES

INTRODUCING THE WORLD&#039;S MOST ADVANCED MOTORCYCLE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM

All versions of the 2025 TRACER 9 feature a cornering headlight system and, in a world first, Yamaha brings sophisticated adaptive Matrix LED headlight technology to motorcycling on the TRACER 9 GT and TRACER 9 GT+ models.

Comprising of a matrix of multiple low and high beam LEDs linked to a camera which is integrated into the upper part of the headlamp assembly, the technology automatically detects surrounding traffic, natural light sources and weather conditions. Taking this information on board, it dynamically adjusts brightness and light distribution to provide optimal illumination at all times. The system increases rider confidence while riding at night, distributing the light in such a way that it tries to ensure other road users are not dazzled, while adjusting the illuminated area for the rider. The Matrix LED headlight array works with the six-axis IMU to adjust the light beam when a lean angle of seven degrees or more is detected, creating a more comfortable riding experience.

While the adaptive headlights are fully automated, the rider can choose from three levels of sensitivity, while also having the possibility to manually override at any time while riding.

POWERED BY CP3

The critically acclaimed CP3 engine needs little introduction. Famous for its high-torque characteristics and incredible midrange acceleration, the latest EU5+ specification version of the 890cc three-cylinder motor delivers a peak power output of 119ps at 10,000rpm, with 93Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.

Of course, the numbers only tell part of the story and don&#039;t convey a riding experience which has made TRACER 9 one of Europe&#039;s biggest selling sports tourers. The most balanced TRACER 9 yet, the 2025 incarnation delivers a gloriously engaging ride thanks to that famed linear torque delivery at low-to-mid rpm. With optimised gear ratios and a distinctive growl from the twin exhaust system and tuned intake, the TRACER 9 provides an addictive ride which puts a grin on the rider&#039;s face every time they open the throttle.

For all the TRACER 9s playfulness, the CP3 is a joy to ride, with the perfect blend of sporty agility and touring comfort. Combined with Yamaha&#039;s adjustable riding modes and the standard assist and slipper clutch, the TRACER 9 is a super smooth and versatile motorcycle capable of adapting to the rider&#039;s individual needs.

        LIGHTWEIGHT CF ALUMINIUM DIE-CAST FRAME

Complementing perfectly the CP3 engine, Yamaha&#039;s aluminium Deltabox frame provides high levels of rigidity to provide an engaging and sporty ride.

This is manufactured using Yamaha&#039;s proprietary CF (controlled filling) die-cast process, which enables the construction of an extremely light and strong frame with varying wall thicknesses throughout, allowing for a finely tuned design with rigidity optimised to deliver class leading handling.

A holistic design approach sees the Deltabox frame mated to an extended aluminium swingarm and steel subframe, now longer yet lighter than before, to provide more room for rider and passenger. The combination contributes to a motorcycle with outstanding high speed stability and the carrying capacity required from a motorcycle developed to convey two people and their luggage in style and comfort.

Combined with lightweight wheels and high-specification KYB suspension, the 2025 TRACER 9 delivers an agile and secure riding experience without compromise.

FULL THREE-BOX LUGGAGE CAPABILITY

The 2025 TRACER 9 comes equipped ready for luggage, allowing the option of easily fitting removable 30 litre hard panniers (standard equipment on TRACER 9 GT and GT+) and/or a choice of a 34 or 45 litre top box from the official Yamaha accessories range.

The genuine Yamaha hard luggage is designed to be fully integrated into the motorcycle and is easily operated with the smart key technology found on the TRACER 9 GT and TRACER 9 GT+. The TRACER 9 has been designed to carry up to 193kg, allowing rider and passenger to tour without compromise and emphasising the model&#039;s capabilities as a versatile sports tourer.

Also new for the 2025 TRACER 9 models is an integrated storage compartment located on the right-hand side of the tank, containing a USB socket and providing an easy-to-access cubbyhole for wallets, documents and other small items, which are essential on longer rides.

INTEGRATED RIDING MODES

All TRACER 9 models benefit from five Ride Modes (three preset and two customisable) which are fully integrated with the six-axis IMU and other technologies, such as the comprehensive suite of lean-sensitive rider aids, Cruise Control, electronic suspension and, where fitted, the Y-AMT transmission.

These Ride Modes, &#039;Sport&#039;, &#039;Street&#039;, &#039;Rain&#039;, &#039;Custom 1&#039; and &#039;Custom 2&#039; can be toggled on the fly using a control on the newly-designed right-hand switchgear. The factory modes are preset with different intervention levels to suit the varying conditions, while the &#039;Custom&#039; options enables the rider to adjust the individual parameters in the YRC menu of the TFT, or by using the app. When using the app, any new custom YRC settings will be uploaded and available for the rider to select the next time the app is connected to the bike.

HIGH SPECIFICATION 7&quot; FULL COLOUR TFT DASHBOARD
All versions of the TRACER 9 come equipped with the same comprehensive 7&quot; TFT dashboard. The meter features three different themes to match the rider&#039;s preference and riding style, with additional layouts for navigation, music and calls.

Each theme is designed to emphasise the different sides of the TRACER 9s character, from a stripped-back sports design to an information-packed touring layout and a more casual, design-driven screen, which displays core details in a visual theme inspired by Yamahas Jin-Ki Kanno development philosophy.

The TFT dash has been developed to incorporate Garmin&#039;s Motorize app, which includes a subscription for the full navigation service as standard (TRACER 9 GT and TRACER 9 GT+), delivering a large live-map navigation experience. The dashboard is also fully integrated with all the TRACER 9&#039;s standard and accessory features, such as the YRC (Yamaha Ride Control) ride modes, tyre pressure monitoring systems and heated accessories.

LIGHTWEIGHT SPINFORGED WHEELS AND DEDICATED BRIDGESTONE TYRES

Manufactured using Yamaha-exclusive SpinForge technology, the TRACER 9&#039;s wheels are lighter and stronger than those produced using more traditional processes, giving a corresponding reduction in inertia for even greater agility and improved fuel economy.

The 2025 TRACER 9 further benefits from a change in rim thickness on the rear wheel, optimising the rigidity. The wheels are paired with Bridgestone BATTLAX SPORT TOURING T32 tyres, which were developed specifically for the TRACER 9. The internal structure of the tyres has been designed to complement and enhance the handling characteristics of the TRACER 9, typically reducing the weight of the front wheel assembly by around 200g, with a 300g saving at the rear. Together the package contributes to a low wet weight of 212 kg, and optimised handling in a variety of conditions.

HIGH-QUALITY, FULLY ADJUSTABLE, KYB SUSPENSION SEMI-ACTIVE ON GT MODELS

All models in the 2025 TRACER 9 range benefit from front and rear suspension units, which allow the rider to adjust the settings and find the best setup for their individual needs and preferences.

The GT models further benefit from electronically adjustable suspension units, which have been developed specifically for the TRACER 9 in collaboration with KYB.

Called KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System), it is the most advanced suspension system found on any Yamaha production motorcycle. This semi-active system is baked into the motorcycles electronics and dynamically adjusts the damping and riding experience using real-time data detected by the six-axis IMU, such as lean angle, load, acceleration, and the amount and speed of the suspension stroke, providing a ride that can deliver a sporting ride without compromising comfort.

The rider has the choice of different modes at the touch of a button, and the dynamics are further determined by the selected YRC riding mode, delivering a firmer, more sporting setting in Sport mode, with a greater focus on comfort in Street and Rain mode.

KADS is further integrated into other advanced and convenience systems, such as the brake control, Adaptive Cruise Control and the Unified Brake System. The result is a truly confidence-inspiring ride, which adapts itself to the wide range of environments in which this versatile machine has been designed to be ridden in.

MORE COMFORTABLE ERGONOMICS

With a focus on improved comfort for touring, a significant change to the 2025 TRACER 9 range are the revised ergonomics, with a modified handlebar, footrest and seating arrangement creating a more comfortable riding experience for both rider and pillion, without compromising the machine&#039;s sporting characteristics.

Despite being 150g lighter, the new subframe is 50mm longer than the item found on the previous generation TRACER 9, allowing for a more generous pillion seat area. The rider seat has been reshaped and is now flatter, with more padding for added comfort. Despite the spec sheet showing an increased minimum seat height of 845mm, most riders should find the 2025 TRACER 9 more accessible as the stand-over distance has actually been reduced through the slimming and reshaping of the front area of the saddle, meaning a more reassured and confidence inspiring experience, especially for shorter riders.

The seat has two height settings, allowing riders to optimise the ergonomics to best match their physique and personal preference. This allows the saddle to be raised by 15mm, without the need for any tools, while a heated seat is available as an option from the Yamaha Genuine Accessories range.

Y-AMT- YAMAHA AUTOMATED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Standard fitment on the TRACER 9 GT+, and offered alongside a traditional manual gearbox on the TRACER 9 and TRACER 9 GT models, Yamaha&#039;s innovative Y-AMT (Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission) offers a whole new riding experience, giving the TRACER 9 customer the choice between a fully automatic transmission system and a finger operated manual shift with electronically controlled auto clutch.

Y-AMT&#039;s manual transmission (MT) offers a completely new way in which to experience the thrill of Yamaha&#039;s acclaimed CP3 motor. With a closer and more refined connection to the brain than the feet, the hands are one of the most tactile and powerful tools the human body has.

Shifting by hand alone, as opposed to a foot-and-hand combination, is not only quicker, but requires less thinking time, allowing the rider to hyper-focus on throttle and brake application, lean angle, body position and tyre grip levels to intensify the ride, especially when cornering.

MT has been developed with sporty riding in mind, and for when the rider wants to remain engaged. It allows for quicker and more consistent changes as the rider looks to extract every degree of performance.

Gear changes are activated through a tactile see-saw switch placed conveniently at the rider&#039;s left-hand fingertips. Riders can either use their thumb and index finger to upshift with the plus lever, and downshift with the minus lever, or opt for a single-finger operation for sportier riding, using only the index finger to shift by pulling the plus lever to shift up, and pushing it to shift down for the ultimate sporty ride.

With no clutch to operate, the rider can more easily time their gear shifts while focusing on their lines, braking and other controls. With no traditionally mounted shift pedal, the rider is also better able to position their lower body through turns providing excellent stability while cornering and creating an even more reassuring connection with the motorcycle.

At standstill and low speeds, the Y-AMT system controls the clutch and gearbox operation making the machine easier to control when moving off, performing manoeuvres and in heavy traffic. The system completely takes over gear shifting functions when in one of the two AT modes, but can be overridden using the see-saw lever.

Working in conjunction with Yamaha&#039;s electronic throttle (YCC-T) system and its switchable ride modes, Y-AMT delivers a thrilling ride, giving the rider extra bandwidth to concentrate on the road ahead while enjoying fast and consistent gear changes to maximise performance.

Ideal for commuting and on journeys where the rider wants to enjoy a more relaxing ride, &#039;D&#039; mode delivers a softer and more confidence-inspiring, fully automated, gear shift to aid low speed and urban riding. &#039;D+&#039; mode holds each gear for longer, providing more engine-braking when required, offering more powerful acceleration and a more invigorating riding experience. The rider can toggle seamlessly between the two riding modes by thumbing the button on the right hand switchgear, while the Yamaha Ride Control further tailors the riding experience to the individual&#039;s preferences, allowing tailoring of three power, and the suite of stability control settings.

Toggling between MT and AT modes is easy and can be done on the move by activating the button on the right hand switchgear, allowing the rider to transform the nature of their TRACER 9 in a heartbeat.

NEW SMARTPHONE CONNECTIVITY

All versions of the 2025 TRACER 9 come equipped with an evolved 7&quot; TFT dashboard while the GT and GT+ models have full smartphone connectivity as standard.

Recognising the increasing number of customers who use their devices to enhance the riding experience, the TRACER 9 now comes equipped with an integrated storage area to the right hand side of the fuel tank. This features a USB charging port, which means the device can be plugged in while riding.

Riders can link their smartphone to the machine using Yamaha&#039;s free MyRide app. The connection can be made via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and once connected the rider can view information on incoming calls, emails and messages, while both riders and passengers can also listen to music and respond to calls with a Bluetooth-connected headset (not supplied).

The smartphone integrates seamlessly with the TRACER 9&#039;s display and switchgear. The rider can view the menus and control the device functions through the newly designed controls on the left handlebar cube. Additionally, when connected to the motorcycle, riders are able to personalise the custom modes of the Yamaha Ride Control, setting their preferred power delivery, engine braking and intervention levels of the TRACER 9&#039;s numerous electronic rider aids.

NEXT-GENERATION DESIGN AND STYLING

TRACER 9 is the very embodiment of sports touring, giving Yamaha&#039;s design team the challenge of creating a fairing with the cosseting comfort of a dedicated tourer, while remaining compact and sporting in its nature.

The new fairing maintains the compact image of the previous generation TRACER 9&#039;s bodywork but is all new, having been developed in the wind tunnel to optimise airflow around the rider and passenger. The standard model features a manually adjustable windscreen, which offers 50mm of adjustment in 10 steps, while the GT and GT+ variants utilise an electronically operated screen with a total of 100mm of adjustment, which can be made at the touch of a button while riding. The electric screen&#039;s greater range gives an additional 25mm of height for added wind protection, as well as a 25mm lower setting for summer and low speed riding. The screen shape has also been designed to carefully manage airflow, reducing turbulence and wind pressure on the riders lower body, while the item on the GT and GT+ features an additional spoiler at the bottom of the screen for even higher wind protection.

The fairing, designed around the new chassis package, ensures that low speed manoeuvrability has been improved through a revised front fork bracket, which increases the steering angle of the handlebars, reducing the minimum turning circle from 3.1m to 2.9m.

        LOW MAINTENANCE CHAIN

TRACER 9 GT+ also receives DIDs latest low maintenance chain. This features DLC coated rollers for excellent durability and reduced resistance. As a result, chain life is increased, and the need for adjustment is reduced, plus the motorcycle is easier to push around.

Another small, but practical, change has been made to the fuel pump sender, which has been optimised to allow for an even more accurate readout through the TFT dashboard.

MILLIMETRE WAVE RADAR BASED RIDER AIDS

As well as Adaptive Cruise Control and the Unified Brake System and Forward Collision Warning, utilizing the front millimetre wave radar, the TRACER 9 GT+ is fitted with a rear Millimetre wave radar providing Blind Spot Detection. All these systems use data from the front and rear millimetre wave radar that detects the distance and presence of vehicles around the motorcycle. Weighing only 200g, the compact, radar units are situated behind integrated covers at the front and rear of the TRACER 9 GT+.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC)

TRACER 9 GT+ comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and this advanced system offers all the advantages of cruise control together with the ability to automatically maintain a fixed distance from the vehicle ahead. Working in conjunction with Y-AMT, true fully automated shifting while the adaptive cruise control is engaged vastly reduces the fatigue of long-distance travel.

The front integrated millimetre wave radar constantly measures the distance from the vehicle immediately ahead of the TRACER 9 GT+ and sends signals to the ACC, which automatically controls cruising speed, deceleration and acceleration to suit the road situation as it evolves.

The ACC is adjustable, and when the machine is in motion its rider can select one of four different following distance options to suit their individual preferences, displayed as one bar for shortest following distance, and four bars for the longest following distance. ACC offers a number of advantages, including reducing rider fatigue by requiring fewer rider inputs, as well as ensuring improved ride quality by maintaining a constant following distance, and also promoting smooth traffic flow.

When the ACC system is active a green icon (with grey for standby) displays on the TFT dashboard, showing between one and four white bars beneath a car icon to confirm the selected following distance. When ACC determines the rider is too close to the vehicle in front, or if it senses that the machine&#039;s current acceleration/deceleration status will soon lead to the rider getting too close, rider intervention request icon appears on the dashboard to notify the rider that appropriate action is required to avoid following too close.

ACC operates between 30 km/h and 160 km/h in first and second gears from 30 km/h, in third and fourth gears from 40 km/h, and in fifth and sixth gears from 50 km/h. Speed can be increased and decreased in either 1 km/h or 10 km/h increments by pushing once or holding down the adjustment switch. ACC is deactivated by braking or rolling forward the throttle twist grip, beyond the throttle stop.

This easy to understand ACC status is shown in all screen modes including navigation mode and provides an additional rider aid that is designed to enhance the riding experience, particularly on busy highways.

ADDITIONAL ACC FUNCTIONS

The ACCs passing assist accelerates the TRACER 9 GT+ more smoothly than normal when it senses that the bikes flasher is turned on and the motorcycle is performing an overtaking manoeuvre.

ACC is also integrated with the engine, braking and electronic suspension, and in order to maintain the pre-selected distance to the vehicle ahead, the engine braking and brakes are activated in that order to slow the bike. At the same time the electronic suspension&#039;s damping force is adjusted to reduce excess pitching when brakes are applied to help maintain chassis stability.

With its ability to intervene automatically and adjust levels of speed, throttle opening, engine braking, braking and suspension when following a vehicle as well as when cornering and overtaking the sophisticated ACC provides a natural and seamless riding experience. Used for the very first time on a Yamaha, this best-in-class electronic technology takes highway comfort to a whole new level.

The easy to operate ACC reduces the riders mental and physical inputs and gives enhanced comfort and convenience for an unrivalled ride quality, making the TRACER 9 GT+ Yamahas ultimate Sport Tourer.

RADAR-LINKED FRONT/REAR ASSISTED UNIFIED BRAKE SYSTEM

As the flagship model in Yamaha&#039;s Sport Touring line, the TRACER 9 GT+ also utilises the radar-linked Unified Brake System (UBS).

The new system is an active design offering increased controllability by using data from the millimetre wave radar and the six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) to assist and regulate front and rear braking forces, via the Bosch hydraulic power unit that help control and bias of the braking system.

The radar-linked Unified Brake System works in addition to the Brake Control function found on other specifications of TRACER 9. With the radar constantly checking surroundings, it offers the added safety benefit of intervention when the system detects the motorcycle is too close to a vehicle in front.

The radar-linked Unified Brake System constantly analyses the following distance data provided by the millimetre wave radar. If the system calculates that the riders braking inputs are insufficient to prevent a collision with the vehicle ahead it will increase brake pressure to the front and rear wheels to help slow the TRACER 9 GT+.

When activated, the ACC system will also automatically slow the TRACER 9 GT+ when a pre-selected following distance is reached, but as soon as the rider manually applies brakes the ACC is deactivated and at this point the radar-linked Unified Brake System will intervene if it determines that the rider&#039;s braking inputs are not sufficient to prevent a collision.

The system provides additional braking assistance and will only intervene when the forward collision warning is switched on and the rider is braking it is not a collision avoidance system and can be overridden by the rider.

The second element is the front/rear assisted Unified Brake System that adjusts front/rear braking force distribution. When only the front brake is used by the rider the hydraulic unit automatically applies braking force to the rear wheel, with the degree of intervention calculated using IMU data related to changes in acceleration and lean angle. When the only the rear brake is used the system will sometimes but not always apply additional braking force to the front wheel via the hydraulic unit depending on the brake pedal input and IMU data regarding the bikes attitude.

The third element is the cornering brake control. This is in effect a cornering brake control system that takes into account machine running data from the IMU and instantly adjusts the riders braking forces to inhibit tyre slippage.

The radar-linked Unified Brake System is also connected to the electronic suspension, and as well as assisting and regulating front and rear braking forces, it adjusts front and rear suspension damping to help the ABS always operate whether the BC is turned ON or OFF.

BLIND SPOT DETECTION

Utilising the rear millimetre wave radar, the rider will be notified via indicators integrated in the rear view mirrors, if there is a vehicle present in the &#039;blind spot&#039; of the bike. The radar will monitor vehicles approaching from the rear and determine if they stay in the areas which may not be clearly visible to the rider; if so, the indicator in the mirror will flash as a warning. While this function does &quot;check&quot; the area around the motorcycle, it is only a support feature and still requires the rider to check manually while riding.

SMART KEY AND CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM

The TRACER 9 GT/Y-AMT and GT are equipped with a Smart Key system which allows keyless operation of the ignition, fuel filler cap and steering lock. In addition, the system controls the locking system of the standard fitment side cases and accessory top case. A Body Control Module (BCM) receives inputs from the Smart Key, enabling the cases to be detached or opened/unlocked. To maximise convenience these run on a wireless power supply, without the need for couplers or cables to be inserted or removed.

<title>Dawn of a New Darkness: The New Yamaha MT-07</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/dawn-of-a-new-darknessthe-new-yamaha-mt-07</link>
    <description>
CLASS-DEFINING MT-07 GETS MORE TECH, MORE SPEC AND EVEN MORE STYLE

As the motorcycle which redefined the twin cylinder naked class upon its launch in 2014, the Yamaha MT-07 has been among Europe&#039;s best-selling machines for over a decade.

Embracing the &#039;Dark Side of Japan&#039; philosophy, the MT-07 has led the industry with its futuristic styling and a torque laden motor that has acquired legions of fans around the world. The edgy, sometimes radical, looks have given the MT series a cult following, inspiring a new generation of motorcyclists to take to two wheels and experience an exhilaration only those in the MT community understand.

For 2025 Yamaha again looks to be the category trendsetter, as it welcomes the newest member to the MT family with a fresh new look, an even higher specification and the option of a Y-AMT equipped version.

While Yamaha&#039;s MT series&#039; aggressive styling has made it stand out from the crowd, the MT-07&#039;s success has always come from the riding experience. The first MT-07 was an instant hit with the combination of its light weight and the playful nature of the first generation CP2 motor, and this grin-inducing character is what makes the MT-07 a modern day icon. These ingredients remain at the heart of the 2025 MT-07, which has been engineered to offer an even more invigorating riding experience thanks to a revised chassis and a host of customisable riding modes, as well as the adoption of the YCC-T electronic throttle and a sound enhanced version of the CP2 engine, which has been developed to create an even greater bond between rider and machine. The result is a versatile middleweight motorcycle, a fun machine which is equally at home on the daily commute as it is carving through mountain passes.

But for all its evolution, the 2025 MT-07 remains the torquey hooligan for which it has become notorious, albeit one with greater refinement, more technology and extra premium components.

Bold and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The urban legend continues!

LIGHTNESS INTO THE DARK: MORE SPEC, LESS WEIGHT

The MT-07 has always been lauded for its light-weight and sporting nature, which is why Yamaha&#039;s engineers have worked fastidiously to reduce weight despite a significant increase in specification.

While technology added to the 2025 MT-07 would typically have resulted in a 4.5kg increase to the overall weight, the latest machine weighs in at just 183kg a full kilogram less than the previous model.

The adoption of new wheels, manufactured using Yamaha&#039;s patented spinforging process, save almost half-a-kilogram from the unsprung weight reducing the gyroscopic effect while riding and contributing to a more agile handling motorcycle while components like the battery and die-cast aluminium triple clamp also offer significant weight savings. The minimalist bodywork on the fourth-gen MT-07 alone is responsible for a 600g saving.

Having employed a holistic approach to creating a light and agile motorcycle, Yamaha&#039;s design team has taken every opportunity to save weight wherever possible even where the gain may only be considered negligible. Components like the air cleaner, chain and even the fuel cap are examples of parts which have been redesigned to save a few grams, in order to keep the overall mass of the finished product to a minimum.

ALL-NEWDESIGN

The fourth-generation Yamaha MT-07 takes on a sleek new look thanks to all new bodywork and a completely redesigned bi-functional LED headlamp unit.

Leading the industry and expanding customer expectations of what a middleweight naked should be has always been a key factor in the success of the MT range. The first generation MT-07, launched in 2014, created a new kind of motorcycle based around a &#039;Cool Urban Sports&#039; concept, inspired by the urban subculture found on the streets of Japan. In the two generations to follow, the MT-07 embraced the &#039;Dark Side of Japan&#039; design philosophy but has always maintained a &#039;double deck&#039; structure, with the upper portion of the motorcycle styled to express the beauty which comes from the unity of rider and machine while the lower portion remains stripped back and functional.

Understanding the visual attraction of the machine, this same philosophy has been maintained for the fourth-generation model, while adding a greater level of quality throughout the carefully sculpted bodywork.

While much of the engineering has focused on paring back and keeping weight to a minimum, the MT-07&#039;s stylists have been keen to maintain a degree of volume with their latest project ensuring a well-proportioned full-sized motorcycle European motorcyclists can really embrace.

The MT-07 is a fun motorcycle to ride and the design team has sought to convey that in the styling. Up front, the character is defined by the headlamp unit, with the compact LED lights deliberately styled to look like two staring eyes, giving the MT-07 its distinctive face. Great care has been taken to package hoses and cabling to maintain a neat appearance through the compact fuel tank and a new tail unit, which also has a distinct look.

With the ignition off, the rear light&#039;s contours appear narrow, however the design really comes to life as the motorcycle roars into life. Switched on, the red LED tail lights have been styled to emphasise the link between rider and machine, creating a strong vertical axis made up of the illuminated tail unit and the rider&#039;s back a distinctive look which will really catch the eye of passers-by.

Technically, great care has been taken to ensure the bodywork is as light as possible, with the panels on the 2025 MT-07 weighing in at 600 grams less than those on the previous version. But emotion has always been the key factor when it comes to styling this best-selling model and the signature design remains true to the MT family traditions. While the MT-07 has spawned numerous imitators over the years, none have yet to match the sheer emotion or design purity of the machine which continues to define the category. With its all-new styling, the 2025 Yamaha MT-07 once again raises the bar in the middleweight naked class.

YCC-T AND YRC CUSTOMISABLE RIDING MODES DEBUT IN MT-07

Appearing on the CP2 platform for the first time, the 2025 MT-07 features the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle system which has previously been utilised on larger capacity models in the MT-series.

Adopting this ride-by-wire throttle technology allows the MT-07 to employ a whole suite of electronic rider aids, which enable customisation and aid enjoyment. The MT-07&#039;s excellent throttle response now features three YRC (Yamaha Ride Control) settings which change the power characteristics to suit the rider&#039;s preferences and road conditions. YCC-T also facilitates the standard switchable traction control, Y-AMT transmission and allows the fitment of Yamaha&#039;s third generation up-and-down quickshifter as an accessory option on the standard version. Exclusive to the 2025 MT-07 Y-AMT, cruise control is also a standard feature, increasing comfort and reducing fatigue on highway riding.

The MT-07 comes preset with two factory YRC modes, Sport and Street, with a third Custom setting able to be defined by the user via the TFT dashboard or the free MyRide app.

The rider is able to choose from three power maps and two levels of traction control, as well as the ability to switch off intervention. Sport mode has been developed for more enthusiastic riding, such as on tracks or twisting roads. It is preset to offer the most responsive power map (PWR1) and a lower level of traction control (TCS1). Street mode, designed for everyday use, employs a softer delivery (PWR2) and the highest level of intervention (TCS2).

A third power setting (PWR3) gives the mildest delivery, suitable for wet weather and low grip conditions, and users can select any one of the three power deliveries and three traction control settings (including the ability to switch off intervention completely) for their custom preset.

For MT-07s equipped with Y-AMT, additional YRC settings further reflect the selected drive mode. When in manual (MT) setting, the MT-07 Y-AMT utilises the same modes as the manual version. Each of the two AT settings has its own YRC mode. When in D, the system delivers a balanced combination of throttle response, TCS and shifting to provide a good all-round setting for any conditions. In D+ mode the YRC delivers a different level of TCS intervention and holds on to each gear for longer encouraging the rider to enjoy rev out the CP2 motor and unlock the liveliest levels of performance offered by this innovative way of shifting.

NEW RIDING POSITION ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE

In addition to the MT-07&#039;s fresh bodywork, a revised riding position gives a sportier feeling and a greater sense of unity with the machine.

With a narrow waistline and seat height of 805mm, the 2025 MT-07 is accessible to a wide range of riders while remaining well-proportioned and spacious enough for those with a bigger physique.

Compared to the previous model, the new MT-07 has a more engaging handlebar position which is 18mm wider, 22mm lower and 9.3mm further back, while footpegs are 10mm lower for increased legroom.

To make the bike more accessible, and to accentuate the feeling of connection to the motorcycle, the fuel tank cover is narrower, despite it housing the new YCC-T electronic throttle and the channels for the new acoustic amplifying system. The design makes it easier for the rider to grip the fuel tank with their knees, inspiring more confidence when tackling corners on track days. The fuel tank design itself is new, but retains the same 14 litre capacity as before.

Further aiding rider comfort is a new two-piece seat assembly, which has a refined size, shape and padding for both rider and passenger. These combine to make it easier for the rider to mount the motorcycle and support the movement of body weight while riding, as well as making it easier to grip the tank with the knee while riding in a sporting manner.

SOUND ENHANCED CP2 ENGINE

Powered by the legendary 690cc CP2 parallel-twin engine, the fourth-generation MT-07 features an innovative acoustic amplifying system to really elevate the aural experience when riding, improving the connection between rider and machine.

The CP2 already produces a unique sound thanks to its uneven firing timing and now the intake has been tuned to optimise the engine note when the throttle is opened, creating a distinctive growl particularly when accelerating through the mid-range.

To achieve the desired results, engineers optimised the size, shape and layout of intake components including the air cleaner, intake duct, intake funnel and intake covers. The sound enhancer itself consists of four openings on the new fuel tank cover, which amplifies the optimised engine sound and channels the carefully crafted sound waves towards the rider.

The result should be noticed most prominently when driving out of slow speed corners, at between 25-50% throttle, and creates a greater symbiosis between the rider and their machine, resulting in a more thrilling ride and celebrating the characteristics of the award winning CP2 powerplant.

NEW SUSPENSION AND RADIALLY MOUNTED BRAKES

New 41mm inverted forks adorn the front end of the new MT-07, offering a more planted front end feeling alongside a more modern and premium look. The upside down forks combine with the new chassis to deliver a more sporting and engaging ride, while the new die-cast aluminium triple clamp is a first on a large capacity Yamaha. The new design is almost half a kilogramme lighter than the item found on the previous MT-07, playing a significant role in the overall weight saving programme and contributing to the light and agile steering for which this model has always been highly regarded.

At the rear, the shock absorber and linkage have been optimised to complement the new front end and other chassis developments, with adjustability for preload and rebound damping, giving riders options to tweak the ride for their personal circumstances and riding style.

Along with the new suspension, dual four-piston radially mounted brake calipers are also adopted for the first time on an MT-07. These offer improved rigidity for stronger and consistent braking power.

A&amp;S CLUTCH MAKES FOR LIGHTER AND SMOOTHER DOWNSHIFTS

Giving a lighter and more connected clutch action, the standard MT-07 is now fitted with an Assist &amp; Slipper (A&amp;S)* clutch.

Utilising two cams, an assist cam and a slipper cam, the clutch creates a smoother and more stable machine while downshifting and reducing the amount of force required to pull in the clutch lever by around 22%.

The design of the A&amp;S clutch inhibits the back-torque and excessive engine braking which can be generated when changing down the gearbox, allowing for more consistent and accurate corner entry, while the level of slip offered on the latest model has been fine-tuned to create a level of engine braking in keeping with the MT-07&#039;s sporting nature.

REVISED CHASSIS OFFERS MORE STRENGTH AND RIGIDITY

The MT-07 sees an updated frame and chassis for the fourth-generation MT-07, modified to offer both improved handling and to facilitate the packaging of the new technology now offered as standard equipment.

Utilising high-tensile tubular steel for high levels of rigidity and strength, the frame is the same weight as the one found on the previous generation MT-07, at approximately 14.8kg, despite offering between 12 to 13% increased torsional, longitudinal and lateral rigidity. In particular the swingarm pivot assembly differs significantly from the old model, with a new shape, thickness and bracing making it a critical component in determining the balance of the motorcycle and the handling agility.

Although similar in appearance to the previous model&#039;s frame, only the headstock remains the same. The diameter and thickness of the steel tubing has been revised throughout, as have the reinforcement plates. The changes were made not only to improve the handling characteristics of the 2025 MT-07, but also to accommodate the new YCC-T throttle and Y-AMT, without compromising the air cleaner or fuel tank capacities.

The heavily updated frame combines with a revised swingarm. The asymmetrical design has been part of the MT-07 DNA since its inception in 2014 and this fourth-generation model sees it reworked for the first time. Upper surfaces have been shaved down to save weight and deliver a more contemporary look, while the rigidity has also been optimised to work in conjunction with the new frame and 41mm upside down forks.

As a result of the changes, the new chassis and suspension arrangement offers more stability and improved handling when carrying luggage. When fitted with the 34 litre Genuine Yamaha top case, customers can extract greater versatility from the MT-07 on longer journeys.

NEW WHEELS AND TYRES

The 2025 MT-07 utilises a brand new wheel design manufactured using Yamaha&#039;s patented spinforging technique. The process results in a thinner, and therefore lighter, rim without compromising strength. As a result, the latest MT-07 features wheels which are 480 grams lighter than those on the previous version, creating a motorcycle with a 4% reduction in inertia at both the front and rear. These lighter wheels not only contribute to an overall reduction in the vehicle mass but increase in agility due to the decreased inertia, particularly on the front end.

The SpinForged wheels are matched with Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres, which are renowned for delivering a feeling of light handling combined with durability and great all-round capabilities. The Sportmax tyres perfectly complement the MT-07&#039;s chassis and the bike&#039;s all-round abilities, being at home in wet and dry conditions and in a wide range of uses.

TFT DASH &amp; CONNECTIVITY

The 2025 MT-07 is equipped with a 5&quot; full-colour display offering four different themes for the rider to choose from, which can be selected through the handlebar switchgear.

In addition to the speedometer and tachometer, the comprehensive instrumentation includes a fuel gauge, average fuel consumption, air temperature and gearshift indicator. All layouts give prominence to the speedometer but present the information in different ways to suit the riders tastes or riding style.

As a machine born out of urban culture, the MT-07 comes packed with features designed to help the rider navigate the city streets. The TFT dashboard can be connected to the rider&#039;s smartphone through the free MyRide app. The app allows the rider to take calls on the go and manage music while riding, as well as being able to make changes to the bike&#039;s YRC mode settings.

Riders can also install the free Garmin StreetCross app and pair it to the MT-07&#039;s dashboard to offer full map or turn by turn navigation with real-time traffic information.

NEW SWITCHGEAR AND INDICATOR FUNCTIONS

To help access the numerous extra features on the 2025 MT-07, new switchgear has been developed. Internally, the new switches employ flexible printed circuit boards, allowing them to handle multiple functions, while externally much attention has been spent on optimising the shape and feel of the individual buttons. The result is an intuitive switchgear system which is fully integrated with the MT-07&#039;s functions but which takes up no more space than the items found on the previous generation model.

The turn signals have been updated and feature three new features alongside the standard indicators and hazard warning functions. A new &#039;three-flash&#039; feature can be activated by a &#039;soft&#039; touch of the button. This gives a short burst of three flashes, ideal when changing lanes, while a harder push of the button fully activates the flasher. The turn signals are also now auto-cancelling, switching off automatically after 15 seconds if the bike has travelled more than 150 metres.

In addition, the 2025 MT-07 gains an Emergency Stop Signalling system, which detects sudden braking and automatically activates both turn signals to alert other road users of the rapid deceleration.

        THE NEW MT-07 Y-AMT

First launched to great acclaim on the MT-09 Y-AMT, the Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system debuts on the CP2 platform with the 2025 MT-07 Y-AMT.

The system eliminates the need for a manually operated clutch and gives the rider the freedom to choose between manually shifting through a finger-operated see-saw style lever mounted on the left hand side of the handlebars, or enjoying a fully-automated shift in one of two AT modes.

Principally developed to deliver a purer and more thrilling riding experience, the Y-AMT technology not only enhances the grin inducing nature of the MT-07, but has the positive side effect of creating an even more accessible and confidence inspiring machine which is easier to ride than ever, especially at low speeds. The result is a rider-focused motorcycle which is user-friendly, adaptable and sporting.

When placed in the AT (Automatic Transmission) setting, the rider can choose between D and D+. The two options offer different shift patterns, D delivering a balanced shift for everyday riding, while D+ offers a more sporting ride with upshifts coming higher in the rev range. The Y-AMT technology works in harmony with the MT-07 YRC ride modes, further tailoring the power characteristics and traction control settings to match the kind of riding demanded by the rider. The MT-07 Y-AMT also features cruise control, offering a more relaxing ride on longer highway journeys.

For the most sporting experience, the MT (Manual Transmission) setting has been developed to put the rider fully in command. Gear changes are activated through a tactile see-saw switch placed conveniently at the rider&#039;s left hand fingertips. Riders can either use their thumb and index finger to upshift with the plus lever, and downshift with the minus lever, or opt for a single-finger operation for sportier riding, using only the index finger to shift by pulling the plus lever to shift up, and pushing it to shift down for the ultimate sporty ride.

With no clutch to operate, the rider can more easily time their gear shifts while focusing on their lines and other controls. With no traditionally mounted shift pedal, the rider is also better able to position their lower body through turns providing excellent stability while cornering and creating an even more reassuring connection with the motorcycle.

The light weight of the Y-AMT technology ensures the overall weight of the MT-07 Y-AMT comes in at just 186kg, making it a machine which is even more accessible for riders looking for their first large-displacement motorcycle, as well as more experienced riders wanting a full-sized machine which is manageable and exciting, without any compromises.

<title>A New Generation of Supersport: The 2025 Yamaha R9</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/a-new-generation-of-supersportthe-2025-yamaha-r9</link>
    <description>
Over the last three decades, Yamahas R Series has become synonymous with speed, performance and style.

The launch of a new R model has always been a game-changing moment for Yamaha, from the unveiling of the original R1 in 1998, followed by the R6 a year later along with the iconic YZF-R7, to the re-invigoration of the entry-level market with the R125 in 2008. 2015 saw the introduction of MotoGP-level electronics to the Supersport segment with the R1 and R1M, and then the CP2-powered R7 added a completely new dimension to the Supersport market in 2021.

And now, for 2025, the time has come to re-define the Supersport category once more with the latest highly-anticipated model to join the legendary R Series line-up; the R9.

Offering exhilarating performance and the cutting-edge technology the R Series is renowned for, the R9 presents a whole new generation of Supersport.

There is no escaping that the Supersport market has changed over the years, with the needs and desires of riders evolving and emissions regulations becoming stricter. It is this change which led Yamaha to the decision that their iconic R1 would become a track-only model from 2025 with the introduction of the R1 RACE and continuation of the R1 GYTR.

And while the R1 GYTR and R1 RACE and their ultimate track performance remain the halo-models atop of the Supersport range, Yamaha remains committed to the future of road-going Supersport market, and the appetite and desire shown for this market since the introduction of the R7 makes it clear there remains a place for road-going Supersport models.

The introduction of the R9 completes the step-up Supersport category, which progresses from the entry level R125 to the A2-category R3, middleweight R7 and now the R9 on the road-going side, while the ever-important R1 GYTR, R1 RACE, R6 GYTR and R6 RACE retain their place in the line-up with their high-level performance reserved for the track.

While this new generation of Supersport marks the beginning of a new chapter, the story remains the same with the Supersport ranges identity born from Yamahas racing DNA. From design cues to race-developed technology, each Supersport model is a product of Yamahas racing at the very highest level.

The R9 takes this proven, race-derived technology and design and combines it with the critically acclaimed, triple-cylinder CP3 engine platform which has revolutionised the Yamaha brand over the last decade. The marriage of this famously high-torque powerplant and Yamahas renowned race-precision handling creates a perfectly balanced Supersport model worthy of its status as the R Series flagship, offering usable sports performance on the road, and ample performance for the track.

Designed with R-DNA
The introduction of any R Series model has always been a statement, and the R9 is no exception.

While the R9 retains many of the MotoGP-inspired design features which have become synonymous with Yamahas Supersport models, making it immediately obvious as an R machine, its design also presents the progression expected from a new generation.

Horizontal lines have been emphasised on all R models since the 2015 R1, but this aggressive and sporty styling is taken to the next level for the R9, expanding from horizontal lines to more of a horizontal movement, offering a powerful and flowing feel, embodying the R9s agility, precise handling and race-derived innovation. This new look is encapsulated by the integrated aerodynamic winglets, which contribute to the R9s fierce new face to complement its exhilarating performance.

The iconic R-Series M shaped air-duct and twin-eye headlights remain, but each of these design features are emphasised to add to the aggressive, next generation styling. A single-lens headlight in the M-duct adds to the ice-cold look, while a central front spoiler is also fixed ahead of the headlight to work with the winglets, while also contributing to the fierce aesthetic.

High torque, 890cc CP3 engine
The R9 is powered by Yamahas award-winning 890cc CP3 liquid-cooled, three-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve-per-cylinder fuel-injected engine. The bore and stroke of 78mm x 62mm and 11.5:1 compression ratio provides both excellent torque and ample power, which when combined with the fine control offered by the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) offers optimal performance both on track and on the road. The final ratio, ignition timing and fuel mapping are all optimised for Supersport performance both on track and on the road.

The triple-cylinder roar has become a trademark of the CP3 over the years, and Yamahas engineers paid significant attention into amplifying the engines emotion-evoking sound.

        Lightweight aluminium Deltabox-style frame
Developed specifically for the R9, the gravity-cast aluminium Deltabox-style frame has had its rigidity tuned for sports performance at both low and high loads.

Compared to Yamahas other CP3 models, the stiffness of the R9s base frame is higher in all three directions: torsional, longitudinal and lateral. Applying specific thicknesses, shapes and also by machined holes, Yamaha engineers aimed to balance rigidity and flex giving the rider both high levels of feedback and riding comfort.

The frames standalone weight of 9.7kg makes it the lightest frame ever used for a Yamaha Supersport model. This light chassis means the overall wet weight of the R9 is just 195kg, resulting in the optimal power to weight ratio.

The frame, combined with the sub-frame have been designed to contribute to the R9s narrow and nimble attitude, while also emphasising the speed and performance of a true Supersport machine.

The most aerodynamically efficient Yamaha model to date
Given its size relative to performance, the R6 has long been the most aerodynamic Yamaha model to date and it was against this benchmark Yamahas engineers used to refine the R9s aerodynamic efficiency.

Through extensive wind tunnel testing, the engineers were able to mould the R9 to boast less aerodynamic drag (thus maximising top speed and acceleration performance) than the R6, despite the R9 having a larger displacement, radiator and frontal surface area.

This efficiency is achieved through a combination of the front fairing design, while the new aerodynamic winglets, added just beneath the lights, reduce front lift and improve contact with the road. Normally, just adding winglets would generate extra drag, but through repeated testing, the adverse impacts were eliminated, and the final design minimises the degree of drag while offering the rider a planted front end feel.

The winglets reduce front-wheel lift by 6-7% in a straight line, and when combined with the front-end spoiler beneath the M-duct, this effect is increased to approximately 10% during cornering.

Supersport Level Handling: Suspension
Yamahas Supersport machines are renowned for their handling ability, and this remains true for the R9. The front and rear shock are both newly designed KYB suspension components set-up specifically for the machine and developed alongside the 2025 R1 GYTR and R1 RACE.

The new 43mm KYB inverted front forks have been fully re-designed and now feature individual adjusters for rebound and compression damping on the left and right fork tubes. Each can be adjusted individually, with the right tube for rebound damping and the left for compression, both high-speed and low-speed.

Each fork leg now features a base valve, designed to optimise pressure in the cylinder by limiting or entirely preventing oil from flowing into the bottom of the fork. This new lay-out results in an improved damping response, enhanced contact feeling and better all-round stability. And a Kashima coating darkens the gold/bronze colour with true performance aesthetics.

The rear shock is adjustable for preload, rebound damping, compression damping and The new layout contributes to highly precise damping, offering greater feedback from the track or road surface.

Race-derived Brembo Braking System
The R9 features race-derived Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers, which are light, rigid and are designed to provide better control and stability. The stainless steel mesh brake hoses and large 320mm front discs offer excellent consistency and a controllable feel, especially in prolonged use and under heavy braking.

Taking the R9s stopping power to the next level, the Brembo radial master cylinder features a piston which moves in a direction parallel to the brake lever travel, applying pressure in a linear manner as the rider pulls the lever resulting in an refined feeling of control.

The lightweight Stylema calipers produce their stopping power through four 30mm pistons and are designed to allow an optimised air flow for efficient cooling, reducing brake fade on track.

Sporty comfort: Optimised Riding Position
True to its Supersport style, the R9s riding position is designed to be sporty, with race-style clip-on handlebars, but to cater for the different levels of track-day riders, as well as spirited rides on the road, the points of contact between the motorcycle and the body have been developed to allow riders of various builds to freely move around on the bike.

The distance from the handlebars to the riders hips is optimised to avoid an excessive forward-set posture, and the seat height of 830mm offers accessibility to a wide range of riders. The footpegs are positioned to offer more space and avoid cramping of the legs.

Handlebars
The handlebars are clip-ons mounted below the triple-clamp, providing the kind of front-end load youd expect from a Supersport without too much of an aggressive forward-lean. The positioning is sportier than the clip-ons found on the R7, but more relaxed than those on the R6 RACE, offering greater suitability for different kinds of riding.

Fuel tank
The 14-litre fuel tank provides enough cruising range in road use, while also maintaining a narrow width to offer optimal rider-machine unity. The tank shape is designed to provide ample grip for the riders outside thigh and arm while cornering, with the goal of providing a sense of stability and connection while mid-corner.

Sports-focused Bridgestone tyres
The R9 is fitted with Bridgestones Battlax Hypersport RS11s, boasting track-level performance tuned for use on public roads. These sports tyres offer an incredibly high performance thanks to a high level of grip, cornering stability and contact feeling.

Newly designed handlebar switches with all-new user interface
The R9s switchgear is both intuitive and easy to use, with a focus on minimising the number of buttons to operate a wide range of functions. The button shape and feel during use have been extensively refined to provide optimal operation while riding wearing gloves.

Cruise Control &amp; Speed Limiter
For convenience when riding longer distances, the R9 is fitted with a cruise control system, which can be activated when riding at speeds of 40km/h and above in third gear and higher. After the cruise speed is set, it can be increased or decreased in increments of 1km/h with single pushes of the switch, or continuously by holding down the switch. Cruise control can be cancelled either at the touch of a button, the brake, the clutch or the throttle.

Riders can also set a speed limit for their machine, which controls engine output to ensure the machine does not exceed the selected speed.

Sophisticated R1-based electronics and YRC modes
Developed directly from the electronic systems on the R1, the R9s high-tech six-axis IMU constantly measures acceleration in the forward-backward, up-down and left-right directions as well as the angular velocity in the machines pitch, roll and yaw directions.

The IMU is able to send data in real time to the ECU, which controls the suite of electronic rider aids and in turn alters the machines behaviour depending on the level of support the rider has chosen.

Integrated Riding Modes
Riders can customise their riding experience via the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings, which allow the rider to select engine power characteristics and the level of electronic support to suit their preferences and riding conditions.

Three integrated riding modes, Sport, Street, and Rain featuring factory settings with different levels to suit various conditions are complemented by the option to pre-set two Custom modes, and four Track modes. This allows the creation of specific YRC settings to suit certain situations or conditions by altering the level of electronic support such as Power delivery (PWR), Traction Control (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), Brake Control (BC), Back Slip Regulator (BSR), Engine Brake Management (EBM) and front wheel Lift Control (LIF), all of which can be set directly through the R9s YRC settings screen or via Yamahas MyRide smartphone app.

For optimal race starts, the R9 also features a launch control system, which supports riders when launching and accelerating from a standstill.

And for track usage, there is the option to turn off the rear ABS.

Third Generation Quick Shift System
Yamahas third generation Quick Shift System (QSS) allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts, with Setting 1 enabling these when accelerating (for upshifts) and decelerating (for downshifts) while Setting 2 also allows downshifts while accelerating and upshifts while decelerating, providing greater functionality in a wider range of scenarios.

Display &amp; Connectivity
The R9s full colour 5 TFT display can be customised between four selectable themes, while a track-mode displays information only relevant when riding on track, including lap-timer.

Smartphone notifications and data transfer
The R9s display can be connected to a smartphone via Yamahas MyRide app, through the bikes onboard Communication Control Unit (CCU).

The app can be used to modify YRC settings, allowing the creation of new YRC modes even when away from the bike. Up to 40 different mode setting variations can be saved on the app to suit a particular road or track conditions, and then uploaded to the bike when in range.

An integrated full navigation system is also available through the Garmin StreetCross app. And users can show various information and images on the display, including phone calls, text messages and weather updates.

        Y-TRAC Feel like a racer!
The Y-Trac app elevates the Supersport experience, enabling riders to improve their track riding and performance through tools usually only available to professional racers.

Derived from racing, the Y-Trac app offers the possibility to log and analyse riding data with professional-level technology for all levels of riders, from novice to pro.

With the Y-Trac app, lap and sector times can be logged as well as machine data including lean angle, engine rpm, gear position, speed, throttle position and the levels of support from the electronic support systems, such as traction control.

GPS location data input can be via a riders smart phone, but should the rider want to use a GPS unit on the bike, Y-TRAC can be linked to the Garmin GLO2. Y-Trac also offers the option for a Virtual Pitboard, where the riders pit crew can send messages to their dash board while out on track.

R9 owners can sign up for a free trial version of the app, or subscribe to the premium subscription.

For those starting their journey on two wheels and dreaming of the Supersport lifestyle, the new R3 gives the next generation of riders the chance to own a genuine Supersport that takes its styling, technological and performance inspiration directly from the flagship road and track models, the R9 and R1 GYTR.

Featuring a brand-new look for 2025, fans of the R Series will instantly recognise the new R3 as a legitimate Yamaha Supersport model with its new glaring twin-eye face featuring integrated powerful headlights and position lights, flanking the M1-inspired air duct above new aerodynamic winglets.

Clothed in slim and lightweight new bodywork and powered by a EURO5+ compliant 321cc two-cylinder engine, the R3 also features a new A&amp;S (Assist and Slipper) clutch to smooth out aggressive downshifting, a new LCD instrument cluster, a useful USB socket, new Icon Blue and Midnight Black colours, plus smartphone connectivity through Yamaha MyRide to access data and stats about the bike.

Underneath this stunning new look, the R3 features a compact and lightweight chassis providing the optimum balance of strength and rigidity, with high-specification inverted front forks and a powerful braking system to encourage new riders to have fun and feel confident as they ride into R-World.

R-DNA STYLING
Cutting-edge aerodynamics have been at the forefront of the R3s new design which takes styling and aerodynamic inspiration from Yamahas MotoGP M1 machine. Instantly recognisable as a member of the Yamaha Supersport family, the new model looks as good as it rides and will make any new rider feel theyre in the presence of a legitimate Supersport bike.

Up front, the R3 boasts a next-generation twin-eyed face equipped with powerful projector headlights and daytime LED running lights that blend into the sculpted bodywork for a sleek, sophisticated look, while also complimenting the bikes aerodynamic performance.

Below the signature R Series air duct are the new integrated M1-derived winglets, which, in conjunction with the models tail wing and new bodywork, provide maximum aerodynamic efficiency as air flows along the R3s profile with the layered fairing both reducing aerodynamic drag and enhancing cooling efficiency. For young and new riders alike, the R3 will look fast, even when parked up, and no doubt become a talking point at every first encounter.

ENTERING R-WORLD HAS NEVER FELT EASIER
Matching cutting-edge style with real-world practicality, the new R3 is lightweight and compact, weighing only 170kg fully fuelled and easy to handle and manoeuvre. In addition, the models seat width is now up to 6mm slimmer and the side covers up to 13mm slimmer, meaning a much narrower profile and less bodywork to obstruct the leg. These refinements, in addition to the models accessible seat height of only 780mm, mean its easier than ever for riders to get their feet down firmly on the ground and feel secure when coming to a stop.

321CC ENGINE: THRILLING SPORTS PERFORMANCE FOR NEW RIDERS
At its heart, the R3s 321cc 4-stroke in-line two-cylinder engine is ready to thrill both on the street and on the track, producing an impressive yet manageable 42 PS at 10.750 rpm and a punchy 29.5 Nm of torque at 9.000 rpm.

With Yamahas renowned reliability ensuring this new Supersport is always ready to go, this cutting-edge two-cylinder features lightweight forged aluminium pistons to lower vibration levels, plus shortened conrods and offset cylinders (the same design as the R1) to make the engine more combustion-efficient and compact. In addition, the R3s powerplant meets EURO5+ regulation standards.

A&amp;S CLUTCH: ULTIMATE CONTROLLABILITY
A key new feature on the R3s performance is the inclusion of an Assist &amp; Slipper (A&amp;S) clutch that delivers smoother gear shifting as well as seamless downshifts and a controlled feeling over the bike&#039;s engine braking. This helps make the supersport riding experience more accessible to more riders. For fast and smooth upshifts, an optional Quick Shift System (QSS) is also available for the R3.

Another advantage of the R3s A&amp;S clutch is that it provides a significantly lighter feel at the lever by at least 17% than a standard clutch system. In addition, the clutch lever itself has also been refined by positioning it 5mm closer to the handlebar to enable riders with small hands to operate the system comfortably and with minimal fatigue during longer rides.

HIGH SPECIFICATION INVERTED FRONT FORKS AND REFINED CHASSIS
Providing optimum feel and stability under all riding situations, the R3s 37mm inverted front forks provide excellent front-end feedback during cornering and braking, combined with the compact and lightweight chassis, which provides the optimum balance of strength and rigidity essential for new riders finding their footing in the world of two wheels.

MyRide App AND USB POWER
The R3 comes equipped with smartphone connectivity through Yamaha Motorcycle Connect (MyRide) which gives users a wealth of data and insights about their bike, as well as useful call, text and email notifications which display on the models new LCD instrumentation.

Loading up the app will display the bikes last parking location, fuel consumption, engine RPM and throttle opening degree, rate of acceleration and an eco-friendly riding indicator. It will also rank rides compared to other MyRide users, as well as creating a Personal Riding Log complete with map routes, average speed, weather and temperature, elevation and more, every time a rider sets off on a new journey.

When it comes to keeping electronic devices charged on the go, the R3 now comes equipped with a USB Type-A socket to charge smartphones and heated riding gear.

<title>R Future Is Here: The New R1 RACE and R1 GYTR</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/r-future-is-herethe-new-r1-race-and-r1-gytr</link>
    <description>
Yamaha&#039;s racing roots have influenced every motorcycle produced, with the iconic R1 model being a game changer since its introduction in 1998. The R1 RACE, a track-only model, features MotoGP-inspired aerodynamic winglets, upgraded suspension, and a Brembo braking system. The 2025 R1 RACE is designed to demonstrate the R1&#039;s true racing prowess on the closed circuit, while the R1 GYTR offers a refined, race-ready track experience with race-developed Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GTYR) parts. The R1 RACE and R1 GYTR models demonstrate Yamaha&#039;s commitment to racing and track-use in Europe.

Yamaha took part in its first motorcycle race within weeks of the companys inception in 1955, as the Y-A1 Yamahas first ever motorcycle - took to the Mount Fuji Ascent Race, securing victory in its first attempt. Since then, racing has been deep-rooted in Yamahas DNA. Across the globe, Yamaha has won an abundance of races and championships, from the grass roots of club racing to the elite, premier class of Motorcycle Grand Prix. And while the taste of victory is sweet, each step Yamaha has made in the ultra-competitive racing world has influenced, inspired and filtered down to every motorcycle Yamaha has produced.

No range has benefitted more from Yamahas racing activities than its Supersport models. From MotoGP-inspired design to technology developed in the championship-winning Yamaha WorldSBK programme, each Supersport model is defined by Yamahas racing roots. None more so than the iconic R1. A game changer when first introduced in 1998, the R1 has won both races and hearts in its almost-three decades of existence. The introduction of the crossplane engine in 2009, followed by the MotoGP-derived electronics package and styling in 2015, saw the R1 offer customers a glimpse into the life of a Yamaha MotoGP rider and over the past decade, the R1s race results speak for itself.

Since 2015, the R1 has won a Superbike World Championship, two Endurance World Championship titles, eight All Japan Road Race Championships, eight MotoAmerica titles, three British Superbike Championship crowns and two German IDM Superbike championships. And to this day, the R1 continues to fight for podiums and victories in the WorldSBK and EWC championships, as well as competing for title glory in various national series. Over the last decade, the European motorcycle market has seen significant changes as the needs of riders have evolved, and with emissions regulations becoming stricter, the Supersport category has taken a new direction.

In line with this, the R1s future and development will be fully focussed on racing and track-use in Europe. The 2025 R1 RACE is the embodiment of this commitment. Taking a step even closer to the YZR-M1 Grand Prix machine which inspires both the R1s aesthetics and technology, the R1 RACE features MotoGP-inspired aerodynamic winglets, upgraded suspension and an all new Brembo braking system to offer the ultimate track riding experience.

Designed to demonstrate the R1s true racing prowess on the closed circuit, the R1 RACE is a track-only model featuring cutting-edge technology which has been developed from knowledge gained through Yamahas involvement in racing at the highest level. The remarkable 998cc 4-cylinder crossplane engine is a direct descendent of the YZR-M1 motor, and the R1s sophisticated electronics package was developed working directly with Yamahas race teams. The new-look, MotoGP-style aerodynamic winglets maximise the effects of the R1s anti-wheelie electronics as well as improving front-end feel and feedback when braking and cornering, offering next-level track performance without compromising the streamlined and evocative R1 design. Race derived and track ready, the R1 RACE will take your riding to the next level with race-developed Brembo brakes and fully adjustable KYB suspension.

For an even more refined, race-ready track experience, the R1 GYTR boasts the new features offered by the R1 RACE, plus a selection of race-developed Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GTYR) parts to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of racing performance. For over a decade, the GYTR accessories have been strategically developed with speed in mind by the same result-hungry engineers responsible for Yamahas reputation for racing success. This includes the team behind Yamahas championship-winning efforts in both the Superbike World Championship and EWC.

    <title>MT-09 Y-AMT: Symbiosis with Darkness</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/mt-09-y-amtsymbiosis-with-darkness</link>
    <description>
The MT-09s exhilarating ride can now be experienced in a whole new way with the introduction of the MT-09 Y-AMT, the first model to feature the innovative, new Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission. Set to revolutionise the sport riding experience, Y-AMT allows you to fully focus on the MT-09s thrilling performance by redefining the process of changing gear to either a finger-operated shift or fully automatic, to deliver consistently linear shifts, creating the most engaged and immersive riding experience.

        A MOREIMMERSIVE
RIDINGEXPERIENCE

Retaining all the qualities which make the MT-09 a class leader, the MT-09 Y-AMT combines the standard machines agile handling and feisty performance with a transformational transmission system which allows you to choose between a finger-operated manual transmission (MT), offering an even more engaged riding experience, and the pure convenience of a fully automatic gear change (AT).

        MT: MANUAL TRANSMISSION

MT offers a completely new way in which to experience the thrill of our acclaimed CP3 engine. With a closer and more refined connection to the brain than the feet, the hands are one of the most tactile and powerful tools the human body has. Shifting by hand alone, as opposed to a foot-and-hand combination, is not only quicker, but requires less thinking time, allowing you to hyper-focus on throttle and brake application, lean angle, body position and tyre grip levels to intensify the ride, especially in cornering. MT has been developed with sporty riding in mind, allowing for quicker and more consistent changes as you look to extract every degree of performance.

        AT: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

At standstill and low speeds, the Y-AMT system controls the clutch and gearbox operation making the machine easier to control when moving off, performing manoeuvres and in heavy traffic. The system completely takes over gear shifting functions when in one of the two AT modes, but can be overridden using the see-saw lever. The D+ mode unleashes the CP3 motors famous character, maintaining higher revs for longer as it change up and down through the six-speed transmission. Alternatively, D mode delivers a softer and more confidence-inspiring fully automated gear shift to aid low speed and urban riding, ideal for commuting and on journeys where the rider wants to enjoy a more relaxing ride.

        A NEWDIMENSIONFORMT-09

While the 2024 MT-09 Y-AMT premieres the latest Y-AMT technology, the new model retains all that has made the MT-09 a benchmark in the sporting naked class. Embodying the same Dark Side of Japan philosophy and enhancing the MT-09s sensational performance, the MT-09 Y-AMT provides a thrilling ride from start to finish giving you a highly distilled riding experience and an even greater connection with their motorcycle. To complement the next-level technology synonymous with this class leading machine, the MT-09 Y-AMT comes with a Smart Key System, allowing you to start the bike effortlessly.

<title>The Technical Evolution Of The MT-09</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/the-technical-evolution-of-the-mt-09</link>
    <description>
The 2024 MT-09 arrives in dealers imminently with its new, cutting-edge styling and the highest level of technology the Queen of the Hyper Naked category has ever seen. But where did it all start for the MT-09?

First unveiled as a prototype engine called the CP3 at the Cologne Show in October. Promising an all-new powerplant with its MotoGP-derived Crossplane three-cylinder layout, this new engine would make it Yamahas first transverse triple since the 70s XS850.

That changed less than a year later when the first MT-09 was launched in September 2013, kickstarting the Master of Torque movement and, with its punchy 115bhp, 847cc engine, light, nimble chassis, brilliant accessibility and versatility and price under 7,000, was proved an instant hit.

And that was just the start. Soon after the launch of the CP2-powered MT-07, the Street Rally and Street Tracker variants of the MT-09 broke cover adding further allure to the model. Then, with the arrival of the MT-125, MT-09 Tracer and MT-10, a true dynasty, as promised, was born. By the end of 2016, over 110,000 MTs, of all types, had been sold.

2017 saw the first significant updates to the MT-09, along with a new face of new twin LED headlights. The model received a new dash, plus advanced three-level traction control and a quickshifter to maximise the thrill of accelerating through the gears. In addition, the bike received a new rear subframe giving more room for pillions, plus new rear shock settings with improved forks offering separate compression and rebound damping adjustment.

Even bigger changes came in 2021. In the models first complete overhaul, the MT-09s triple grew from 847cc to 889cc thanks to a longer stroke and received new pistons, conrods, cams, exhaust, clutch and gearbox with taller first and second ratios. The result was not only cleaner (to meet the new Euro5 regulations) but better performing with peak power up to 117bhp.

Just as significant was a new cast aluminium Deltabox frame and swingarm which not only provided 50% more lateral rigidity but was 2.3kg lighter. New forged wheels shaved another kilogram off its weight and, overall, the new MT-09 was 4kg lighter than before.

Nor did the improvements end there: the lighter, more powerful 2021 MT-09 also gained upgraded brakes with a new radial master cylinder. Technology derived directly from the R1 and the first MT to receive such race-bred technology. Elsewhere the model received a new 3.5-inch colour TFT display, while its looks were also refreshed, highlighted by a new face with LED projector headlight.

This is where the new 2024 MT-09 comes in with all-new styling and greatly improved equipment promising it to be the best MT-09 yet. This latest evolution offers a more compact look and improved ergonomics delivered via a new sculpted tank, slimmer seat, lower, adjustable bars, and there are new LED lights to boot.

The three riding modes are joined by two customizable options with the electronics suite managed through Yamahas Ride Control system, inherited from the R1. Theres also a new, larger five-inch TFT dash plus improved switchgear to match, Smartphone connectivity options and even cruise control included as standard.

Who said the MT-09 hasnt come a long way since that first engine prototype of 2012?

<title>A Decade Of Dominance: Celebrating 10 Years Of The MT-07</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/a-decade-of-dominancecelebrating-10-years-of-the-mt-07</link>
    <description>
For a decade, theres been one machine that has dominated the competition in so many areas of motorcycling. From commuting through the UKs busiest cities to lighting up twisty B-roads, from touring across the country to opening the door as the first big bike for so many of us.

When first unveiled in 2014 nobody could have foreseen the impact that the new MT-07 would have, but Yamahas new Master of Torque with its brand-new CP2 parallel-twin engine was about to rewrite the book on what a do everything bike could do, while achieving the almost impossible of injecting torque-fuelled smile-inducing fun into every mile.

While the naked-middleweight category coasted along, an exciting edgy machine from the Dark Side of Japan was about to put the world on notice, and as this iconic motorcycle celebrates its 10th anniversary, it&#039;s the perfect time to reflect on the models journey, evolution, and the impact its had on motorcycling.

So, where did it all begin?

The MT-07 traces its origins back almost 10 years before its unveiling with the launch of the very first MT in 2005 the MT-01. This was followed by the MT-03 in 2006, but it wasnt until seven years later that the MT range would become what we know it as today. The game-changing MT-09 was unveiled in 2014, equipped with a brand new CP3 powerplant heralding the dawn of the crossplane era, teeing everything up perfectly for what Yamaha was going to do next.
What emerged from the Dark Side of Japan caught everyone by surprise. Enter the MT-07. A bike designed to bring fun and enjoyment back to all types of road riding while being extremely accessible through its competitive price and user-friendly riding experience.

At its heart was the all-new addition to the crossplane concept a 689cc parallel-twin CP2 producing 75bhp at 9,000 rpm and 63Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm which, at the time, stood head and shoulders above its rivals not only in terms of performance, but the way it was so easy to wield. With an addictive-sounding uneven firing interval and a 270-degree crank, the stage was set for one of the hallmarks of the MT-07 - a robust sense of acceleration paired with strong linear torque.

From the moment you twisted the throttle and felt the torquey twin spin up, you couldnt help but smile as this new MT allowed riders to playfully grab a handful without pushing limits. Add a new steel frame that used the engine as a stressed member, R1 four-pot brake callipers, a large 180-section rear tyre from the MT-09, plus a compact wheelbase and plush suspension, and you had an engine and chassis combo that made the MT-07 light, agile, and a hoot to ride. Throw in a generous range of over 180 miles on a fuel tank and weighing only 179kg and you had all the ingredients of a game changer.

The MT-07s user-friendliness was helped by a spacious upright riding position and wide bars that would allow new and experienced riders to grow in confidence and inject fun into their motorcycling.

At low speeds, the MT-07 was easy to manoeuvre thanks to its compact and nimble chassis and accessible seat height of 805mm. Weaving through traffic was a doddle, and then, when the road opened up, so could the MT. With a sharp twist of the throttle it was easy to unleash bags of torque in almost any gear, giving the bike a unique cocktail of thrilling power, forgiving delivery, and an eagerness for the front wheel to take to the skies.

Visually, the bike bore a striking resemblance to the MT-09. Brilliantly simple and edgy to the core, the MT-07s lack of fairing revealed a mass-forward mechanical layout that was refreshingly athletic. It continued the less is more design philosophy and allure of the Dark Side of Japan by stripping back the bodywork and exposing the engine and frame, and the fact that you didnt have to break the bank to experience Jin-Ki Kanno: is the bike fun to ride?, positioned the MT-07 as the cat pulling a wheelie among the pigeons.

In the year following its launch, the MT-07 gained a massive fanbase worldwide as well as being awarded MCNs coveted Bike of The Year. It then became the biggest-selling MT shifting over half of the 250,000 units in Europe with its beloved engine going to power a range of CP2s including the Tnr 700 series, TRACER 7, XSR700 and R7.

In 2018, an evolution of the MT-07 emerged with new bodywork and a newly developed suspension with refined rebound damping, spring rates and high-speed compression damping. It also featured a 30% larger seat allowing more space for riders to move around on, a premium finish to its headlight and a compact taillight with a new layered design.

This was followed by a third generation in 2021 which changed the face of the model and raised the bar in terms of engineering. Most notably, the new Euro5-compliant 689cc engine which not only brought the CP2 in line with environmental commitments, but did so with hardly any drop in the MTs signature torque. It also featured a new acoustic-tuned exhaust system to ensure the rider (and those lucky to be around them) could also enjoy the character and sound as the MT as it climbed up to the redline. Visually, the new MT-07 looked sleeker with refined bodywork and new graphics, plus a new LED projector headlight flanked by running lights and LED indicators. The model also featured improved ergonomics thanks to wider handlebars for a more engaged riding position and easier manoeuvrability.

This brings us to 2024 and the latest version of the MT-07, which for this year, features new Midnight Cyan, Icon Blue and Tech Black colours, plus cutting-edge electronics including a 5 colour TFT display and smartphone connectivity while remaining a true less is more MT at heart.

In the supercompetitive world of motorcycling, staying at the top of your game is near impossible, but ever since the MT-07 burst onto the scene and rewrote what a middleweight user-friendly twin should be, its remained one of the biggest-selling motorcycles in the world for a decade.

A bike within everyone&#039;s reach and easy to get the best out of. Feeling powerful without being intimidating and allowing us all to take those first steps into the Dark Side of Japan on a bike that allows us to have fun on every ride.

<title>Further, Faster, Stronger: GYTR Ténéré 700 World Raid Performance Kits</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/further-faster-strongergytr-tnr700-world-raid-performance-kits</link>
    <description>
Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing for Adventure
Having been introduced to great acclaim in 2022, Yamaha&#039;s rally-inspired Tnr 700 World Raid has proved a hit with riders looking for the ultimate go-anywhere middleweight adventure bike.

Now, Yamaha have developed a range of GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) performance parts in collaboration with the Yamaha Rally team, creating three tuning kits to turn the Tnr World Raid into a true competition motorcycle with higher engine performance and a chassis tuned to deliver true rally capabilities.

Available through European Yamaha dealerships, the three separate kits combine to create the ultimate Tnr 700 World Raid. The Performance kit is easy to install and adds the GYTR rally seat and footrest set, while increasing engine performance with the GYTR ECU, Akrapovi full titanium exhaust system and air filter kit.
The Handling kit focuses on handling and off-road stability, replacing the Tnr 700 World Raid&#039;s stock wheels and suspension, while the Rally kit takes things even further with a host of high-end rally components, including large capacity fuel tanks, a genuine rally developed handlebar kit and screen, allowing the fitment of road book instruments, high performance headlights and all the components required to participate in competitive rally raids.

The GYTR Adventure kits are developed for racing purposes only and are available to all Tnr 700 World Raid riders looking to ride their machines in the most demanding of conditions.

A selection of these parts will also be available separately for any standard Tnr 700 customers looking to fit specific GYTR Performance parts to their bike.

Tnr 700 World Raid GYTR Performance kit
Developed to unlock the full adventure potential of the Tnr 700 World Raid&#039;s 689cc CP2 engine, the GYTR Performance kit utilises the stock wiring harness but adds a lightweight race exhaust system from Akrapovi, with headers, slip-on muffler and end cap all constructed from titanium. Designed to optimise exhaust gas flow, the system works in conjunction with the GYTR air filter kit, comprising of a bespoke case and filter element, and the GYTR ECU, which adjusts ignition and fuel mapping to maximise power and torque output and delivery. The GYTR performance parts combine to increase performance by up to 9hp.

Alongside the engine tuning parts, the kit also contains a rally-spec seat and footrest kit. The one-piece GYTR Rally Seat replaces the standard two-part unit. Proudly featuring the GYTR logo, the saddle is made from grippy material for maximum control in even the most challenging conditions. As standard, the Rally Seat increases seat height by 25 mm, however it has been designed to allow the rider to cut the foam and create a customised shape to meet their own ergonomic requirements. The Rally Seat works in conjunction with the wide GYTR Footrest Set, which feature a heavily serrated design to aid grip and an open pattern aimed at reducing the cumulation of mud in extreme conditions.

The final component in the Performance kit is a clutch cover upgrade, with a GYTR branded billet aluminium split cover allowing easy access to the clutch&#039;s inner workings for quick servicing between rally stages.

The GYTR Performance kit has been developed for easy installation, allowing the stock wiring harness, wheels and ABS system to be retained.

Tnr 700 World Raid GYTR Handling kit
Taking things a step further, the GYTR Handling kit focuses on getting the chassis of the Tnr 700 World Raid rally-ready, with new race-specification wheels and suspension combining to create a motorcycle prepared to take on the roughest terrains with outstanding handling and stability.

Race-developed 48 mm diameter KYB closed cartridge forks feature DLC coated tubes and have an increased stroke of 270 mm, while a mid-speed valve allows for adjustment over a much wider range. To enable the fitting of the upgraded front suspension, the kit also includes a GYTR triple clamp assembly, machined from billet aluminium 6082 anodised in black. The triple clamp is matched with a compact, yet fully adjustable steering damper, manufactured by Scotts Performance. With 25 settings, which can be adjusted on the fly, the damper has been developed to increase stability and reduce rider fatigue when riding long stints on rough terrain. The triple clamp kit also contains a bracket to keep the standard steering damper. At the rear, a fully adjustable Paioli shock absorber replaces the stock item, featuring high and low-flow rate pistons to optimise compression and rebound damping for improved rider feedback.

GYTR rally wheels, prepared by Haan Wheels using Excel rims and machined hubs in aluminium, reduce weight, while there&#039;s also a new braking system front and rear with Brembo calipers and bigger 300mm disc at the front, with a 267mm rear disc mated to the stock caliper. The GYTR Handling kit ECU allows for deletion of the ABS system and immobiliser. Also included in the kit is a lightweight chain and sprocket set with revised ratios and a new radiator assembly consisting of a bigger radiator and separate oil cooler, as well as all the hoses and brackets required for installation. The kit also includes a black anodised GYTR radiator guard to protect against branches, stones and other debris.

The final element of the Tnr 700 GYTR Handling kit is the GYTR high front fender for that authentic &#039;Dakar&#039; look and additional protection from whatever the stages throw at you.

Tnr 700 World Raid GYTR Rally kit
For the ultimate in endurance and rally performance, the GYTR Rally kit adds larger capacity fuel tanks and all the equipment required to fit the roadbook and GPS instrument equipment used in competitive rally raids.

New front tanks, left and right, are made from nylon painted in black and have a transparent &#039;window&#039; to allow for a quick and easy visual check on fuel levels. The tanks are also fitted with dedicated race filler caps to allow for rapid refuelling, while the kit also includes auxiliary tanks which can be fitted to the rear of the machine, increasing the overall fuel capacity to a gigantic 37.6 litres.

The GYTR handlebar kit comes with a quick-action throttle assembly, hand guards and brackets to allow the rider to attach their personal navigation equipment. The Rally kit also includes a new set of indicator and warning lights, a headlight tower kit with four high-performance spotlights and a new polycarbonate screen to provide protection to both the rider and the headlights.

Completing the full rally raid transformation, the Rally kit comes with a GYTR carbon fibre and Kevlar skid plate and a comprehensive sticker kit to create a replica inspired by the upcoming GYTR Africa Eco Rally machine.

This kit also includes a GYTR wiring harness, designed to facilitate the fitting of the kit parts. The loom is lighter than standard and required to remove the ABS and immobiliser.

Take your Tnr World Raid experience to the next level with these GYTR Performance kits and parts that are now available to order from your Yamaha dealership.

    <title>Born Iconic: The New XSR900 GP</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/born-iconicthe-new-xsr900-gp</link>
    <description>
The embodiment of Yamaha Racing history

Blending nostalgic design with the latest technology
The Sport Heritage range pays tribute to some of the most iconic motorcycles from Yamahas rich history by blending nostalgic design with the very latest in high performance engine and chassis technology.

Each XSR model takes inspiration and design cues from some of the most significant bikes built by Yamaha in its 68-year history but sees no compromise in modern day performance by bonding this timeless beauty with cutting edge riding technology.

Racing is in Yamaha&#039;s DNA. Yamaha Motor Company has been competing in, and winning, motorcycle races since its inception pushing the limits of both man and machine. Yamaha&#039;s first ever motorcycle, the YA-1, won the Mount Fuji Ascent Race in 1955 shortly after the company was founded.

Since then, Yamaha has amassed countless victories at all levels from local grassroots amateur racing to the premier class of Grand Prix.

First released in 2016, the XSR900 has long featured subtle hints to Yamaha&#039;s racing pedigree and in 2021, the latest generation XSR900 went one step further with clear design cues taken from race machines of the 1980s and 1990s while maintaining its position as a heritage roadster.

For 2024, the nod to Yamaha&#039;s racing tradition takes another leap with the introduction of the new XSR900 GP, which pays homage to some of the most celebrated race machines from Yamaha&#039;s illustrious past in a way never seen before in the Sports Heritage range.

Combining a sense of 1980s Grand Prix nostalgia with the very latest technology including the iconic, torque-rich 890cc CP3 engine, R1-derived six-axis IMU and lean sensitive rider aids, the XSR900 GP embodies Yamahas Racing history without sacrificing modern day performance.

The &#039;Golden Era&#039; of Grand Prix racing
Yamaha first entered a road racing world championship event at the Grand Prix of France.

The first premier class title came for Yamaha in the 1970s, with Giacomo Agostini, and further championship crowns followed later in the decade.

But it was in the 1980s that Yamaha secured its legacy in what would become known as the Golden Era for Grand Prix racing. &#039;King&#039; Kenny Roberts rode his YZR500 to a third consecutive title in 1980 but, following that success, Yamaha endured a tough few seasons battling for supremacy with its rivals.

This led to a re-think in approach, with a change in focus to developing race bikes with a priority on a rider&#039;s feeling with the machine.

Not only would this new strategy lay the groundwork for further Grand Prix success (Yamaha won six 500cc Grand Prix titles between 1984 and 1992), but technology developed during this period went on to shape the future of the production sport motorcycle to this day.

Having moved to a slimmer V4 engine in 1982, Yamaha&#039;s engineers turned to developing a frame in which to house this powerplant. The idea was to produce a frame the same width of the V4 motor that would envelop it, like a cage.

This marked the birth of what would become the iconic Deltabox frame, which first featured in the 1982 YZR500 OW61 Grand Prix machine. Offering outstanding rigidity and feedback, just where a rider needed it most, the Deltabox posed such a significant step forward that just three years later Yamaha introduced it to a production model for the first time, with the TZR250 bringing the characteristics of the YZR factory race machine to the road.

And now, 40 years on, the Deltabox style frame remains at the heart of many Yamaha motorcycles, including the new XSR900 GP.

Born out of respect
The English proverb &#039;Manners Maketh Man&#039; derives from a shared understanding that courtesy, good manners and respect are essential to the preservation of good human interaction and relationships.

It is this concept which formed the starting point for the design of XSR900 GP, in harmony with the Faster Sons philosophy of respecting the origin, learning from the past and creating a better machine for the modern-day rider.

The aim was not to create a replica, but instead release a model that pays the utmost respect to the past, while holding its own with the latest in performance and technology. That is the XSR900 GP.

A sense of nostalgia in every detail

1980s inspired cowling
Aesthetically, Grand Prix bikes took a significant step in the 1980s, moving from the curvaceous bodywork of the 1970s towards the boxier design seen from the mid-80s onwards. These squarer fairings would set the trend for the next decade not only at Grand Prix level but in production bikes too.

The XSR900 GP features an upper cowling reminiscent of this era, not only with a clear influence from the 1980s YZR Grand Prix bikes but also with notes of the FZR and TZR production sports machines of the late 1980s and early 1990s. To maintain the race-bike look, the XSR900s round LED headlamp is replaced by a compact lens module, neatly hidden in the front cowling, creating a sense of unity with the front fairing while maintaining excellent illumination.

The bodywork is not only a symbol of the past in looks alone, but the method in which it is fixed in position is also inspired by the 1980s, with a tubed structure connecting the cowling to the frame and straight brackets supporting the dash creating a rider&#039;s view with a genuine golden era feel.

To emphasise the classic cockpit feeling, the upper fairing stay is supported by a nut structure identical to that used for the original TZ250. In true racing style, this structure is fastened with a beta pin, marking the first time Yamaha has used such a fastening on a mass-produced production model for public road use.

The function behind the move from the curvaceous cowlings of the 1970s to the more squared off style of the 1980s was to both improve aerodynamic efficiency and protect the rider from the wind coming from higher performance; and this is no different with the XSR900 GP.

While the windscreen and individual knuckle guards incorporate a taste of the 1980s; it&#039;s not solely about looks. The power output and gear ratio of the 890cc CP3 engine are identical to that of the XSR900, but the front cowling structure of the XSR900 GP increases both acceleration and top speed while the ducts on the side panels efficiently discharge heart from the radiator to maximise cooling performance.

The colour-matched seat cover fits over the passenger seat to complete the racer look with a boxy 1980s style rear end hiding the rear light, while a seat stopper on top of the seat cowling keeps the rider in position to enhance the feeling of acceleration.

Colours reminiscent of the Rainey years
Adorned in one of the most iconic Yamaha Grand Prix colours of all time, the XSR900 GP is available in a heritage livery inspired by the machines ridden by riders such as Wayne Rainey to multiple 500cc Grand Prix World Championships in the 1980s and early 1990s, complete with authentic yellow number boards on both front and rear cowlings.

The Deltabox-style chassis and swing arm are finished in silver to better evoke the era of the 1980s prototypes and emphasise the character of the Deltabox style frame itself.

A sportier ride

Race-style clip on handlebars
Separate &#039;clip on&#039; handlebars add to the racer-style cockpit and offer a sportier riding experience.

The revised handlebars drastically change the riding position from the XSR900, moving the rider further forward on the machine into a sportier riding position, increasing the load on the front to offer the more precise feeling expected from a race-style machine.

However, since the model is not purely focused on racing or circuit riding, care has been taken to ensure the riding position does not lean forward excessively, instead offering a balance which can be enjoyed on the road without discomfort. The comfort is emphasised via a thicker, more supportive seat.

The aluminium diecast footrests are adjustable to two different positions but come out of the factory set at the upper position to emphasise the sportier riding position.

Tuned rigidity
To accommodate the extra load on the front end of the machine, as a result of the more forward riding position, the XSR900 GP areas surrounding the frame have been tuned to optimise stability in turning. The subframe has also been reinforced over the one found on the XSR900.

To further correspond with this front end-led riding style, the XSR900 is the only CP3 model to feature an aluminium steering stem shaft, adjusting rigidity in the steering area to better balance the often conflicting feelings of lightness and stability when changing direction or under rapid deceleration.

In conjunction with the lightweight Spinforged wheels and new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres the rider can have precise confidence in placing the XSR900 GP exactly where they wish.

Cutting edge technology

High performance brakes and suspension
In line with the mantra of blending yesterdays style with modern technology, the XSR900 GP boasts the latest in suspension and braking components.

The KYB upside down front forks are fully adjustable for Preload and compression damping as well as rebound damping, so the ideal setup can be found for front end feel. The link-type rear suspension actuates a forward-inclined fully adjustable KYB, shock virtually hidden from sight to maintain the slim and sporty performance at the rear. Remote pre-load adjustment makes customising the ride a simple task.

A Brembo radial front master cylinder underlines the bikes cutting-edge specification and backs up its sporty potential, while the brake hoses have been optimised to improve braking control in sportier riding, especially under harder stopping forces.

Yamaha Ride Control (YRC)
Further maintaining the mix of nostalgic style with the latest in high performance technology, XSR900 GP riders can customise their riding experience via Yamaha Ride Control (YRC). For simpler use, engine power characteristics and rider aids are integrated to quickly allow changes to the level of electronic intervention depending on rider preferences and road conditions.

Three pre-set integrated riding modes, SPORT, STREET and RAIN feature factory settings with different intervention levels to suit different conditions. These are complemented by two Custom settings, which enable the rider to manually select their own power and intervention settings for the various electronically controlled, lean-sensitive rider aids all of which can be set using a smartphone via the MyRide app.

5&quot; TFT meter with full connectivity
A new five-inch full colour TFT display is housed in the retro-styled cockpit. While riders can choose from four different themes to suit a range of mindsets, a traditional analogue-style tachometer theme, inspired by race bikes of yesteryear truly enhances the period riding experience.

For an enriched riding experience, smart phone connectivity comes as standard on the XSR900 GP via a built-in Communication Control Unit (CCU), ensuring riders can stay connected while riding by linking their smart phone with their machine via the free MyRide Link app. As well as seeing call and message notifications on the 5 TFT display, a new dimension is added to the ride by the possibility of taking calls and listening to music via a Bluetooth headset*. Once connected, riders can also make use of the integrated Garmin StreetCross navigation system which will display Turn-By-Turn navigation on the 5 TFT dashboard.

There is also the option to provide power to external devices by the new USB Type C socket located near the dashboard.

*Bluetooth headset not included with bike

New ergonomic switchgear
New integrated handlebar switch assemblies enable the rider to operate the wider range of functions of the new XSR900 GP including smart phone connectivity, navigation and riding modes as well as interrogating the various menu options.

Featuring a clear, logical and simple design the shape, movement and ergonomic layout of the buttons have been designed with intuitive movement in mind, meaning riders can cycle through the different functions with ease.

To aid navigation of busy road environments, a soft-click of the indicator switch will flash the turn signals three times for use when lane-changing or when only brief indication is required. A full-click of the switch will result in continuous flashing until 15 seconds has passed and when the machine has travelled more than 150 metres.

A new Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function reacts to sudden braking by engaging the hazard lights to warn road users behind the vehicle is stopping at speed in an emergency situation.

Extra support from advanced six-axis IMU with lean sensitive rider aids
Developed directly from the electronic systems on the R1, the XSR900 GPs high-tech six-axis IMU constantly measures acceleration in the forward-backward, up-down and left-right directions as well as the angular velocity in the machines pitch, roll and yaw directions.

The six-axis IMU is able to send data in real time to the ECU which controls the suite of electronic rider aids, including the lean sensitive Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS) as well as a front wheel Lift Control System (LIF) and Brake Control System (BC).

XSR900 GP also becomes the first Sport Heritage model to be equipped with the third-generation quick shift system, enhancing the ride by enabling clutchless downshifts while accelerating and clutchless upshifts under deceleration in addition to the standard functionality.

<title>Yamaha Commemorate 25 Years Of The Iconic R1 With Exclusive Race Developed Performance Package</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/yamaha-commemorate-25-years-of-the-iconic-r1-with-exclusive-race-developed-performance-package</link>
    <description>
To mark the 25th Anniversary of the iconic R1, Yamaha Motor Europe through their GYTR PRO Shop network, will offer customers the unique opportunity to experienceworld championship winning performance, courtesy of a range of Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR) PRO performance parts developed alongside Yamahas World Superbike and Endurance World Championship race programs.

Designed by the same engineers at Yamaha Motor Research &amp; Development Europe (YMRE) responsible for the development of the World Championship winning R1 WorldSBK machine, the range of GYTR PRO performance parts makes WorldSBK performance available to Yamaha customers for the first time.

The range of GYTR PRO performance parts for the R1 includes but is not limited to an ultra-strong and lightweight carbon rear subframe that has been designed to accommodate both a modified fuel tank with a lower centre of gravity and the Magneti Marelli ECU. hlins FGR front forks and a TTX rear shock with pneumatic preload adjuster offer more predicable handling and the same level of suspension adjustment available to Yamahas professional road racers. An underslung swingarm, developed specifically for Yamahas WorldSBK race program, improves maximum lean angle and rear grip, while Brembo braking components front and rear provide the ultimate stopping power. The carbon fibre bodywork is ultra-strong, lightweight and has been designed together with the screen to offer optimal aerodynamic performance.

Also available is a GYTR PRO Electronic System (GPES) module, a state-of-the-art package for engine control and data acquisition developed by YMRE in WorldSBK and the FIM Endurance World Championship. The GPES features the most up-to-date electronic software rider aids, such as anti-wheelie, launch control, engine braking management, adjustable fuelling, and traction control, and is supplied with a ready-to-go base setting that provides an excellent starting point for finetuning on track.

Creating such a range of unique performance parts has taken years of development at the very highest level, with Yamaha WorldSBK riders Toprak Razgatlolu and Andrea Locatelli, along with test rider Niccol Canepa, all playing crucial roles in the development process. Fittingly, Yamaha Ambassador, and nine-time World Champion, Valentino Rossi, was presented with an R1 equipped with a selection of GYTR PRO performance parts during the introduction of the GYTR PRO concept at EICMA.

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the R1, Yamaha Motor Europe has commissioned an exclusive run of 25 R1 machines that will be hand built from the chassis up and will feature the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts. The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary will be assembled exclusively by experienced technicians in one of the the 25 GYTR PRO Shops across Europe and will be immediately identifiable as the ultimate track day tool courtesy of the special commemorative livery adorning the race developed carbon fibre bodywork.

The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary, which boasts a specification as close to that of Yamahas world championship race bikes as it is possible to get, is only available to order online, with customers also able to specify at which GYTR Pro Shop the bike will be prepared to their exact requirements.

To ensure that they can fully realise the incredible potential of their R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary machines, each of the 25 owners will also spend a day at a race circuit with a team of dedicated Yamaha technicians. After initial set-up at the track, owners will be run through exactly the same process that Yamahas world championship teams use with riders such as Toprak Razgatlolu to fine tune the settings of the bike to match their specific riding style.

This combination of the exclusive, race proven specification of the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary edition and the technical expertise available through Yamahas GYTR PRO Shops, provides a unique opportunity for Yamaha customers to own what is, without doubt, the ultimate R1.

Andrea Dosoli: Road Racing Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe

We have developed the range of GYTR PRO performance parts alongside our World Superbike and Endurance World Championship race programs, to enable us to offer our customers the opportunity to experience a level of performance that is truly unique. To mark the 25th Anniversary of the R1 we have brought together the bike, the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts and the knowledge and experience of our GYTR Pro Shops to provide a turn-key solution for those Yamaha customers who demand the very best. With the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniverary edition our customers have the opportunity to enjoy a unique bike; a bike that is as close to the specification of our world championship race machines as it is possible to experience without having a Yamaha contract to race in WorldSBK or EWC.

Eric de Seynes: President and CEO, Yamaha Motor Europe

The launch of the GYTR PRO range of performance parts is a proud moment for everyone at Yamaha Motor Europe. Now we are able to offer technology developed in tandem with our WorldSBK and EWC race programs directly to our customers. Designed by our WorldSBK race engineers and tested by our professional riders, the GYTR PRO range represents the pinnacle of what is possible when it comes to making our race developed technology available to our customers. The turn-key package we are offering to mark the 25th Anniversary of the R1, which I had the great pleasure of unveiling during the Yamaha Racing Experience in Mugello, is also unique. Each of the exclusive R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary edition units will be hand built with the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts by the experienced technicians at one of our GYTR PRO Shops, who will also provide technical support during a dedicated set up day at the racetrack. This is a process that few people, other than our professional racers, ever get to experience.

<title>XSR900 DB40 Prototype Breaks Cover at Goodwood Festival of Speed</title>
    <link>https://www.gtmotorcycles.com/yamaha/news/xsr900-db40-prototype-breaks-cover-at-goodwood-festival-of-speed</link>
    <description>
Yamahas Sport Heritage range combines the emotion-evoking design of some of the most iconic motorcycles in the brands history and combines this with the very latest high performance chassis and engine technology, paying homage to the racing machines that have shaped Yamahas past without compromising modern day performance.

For 2023, this nod to Yamahas illustrious racing history goes even further. Following the unveiling of the XSR900 RACER accessories and the 1980s Grand Prix-inspired CafeRacersofInstagram Yard Built for Good special earlier this year, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype has broken cover for the first time at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Riding up the prestigious Goodwood Hill on each of the festivals four days, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype represents a blend of Yamahas rich racing history and cutting edge modern technology in line with the Sport Heritage mantra.

Former YZR500 Grand Prix racer Niall Mackenzie, who rode for Marlboro Yamaha in 1989 before three further years on Yamaha machinery in the early nineties, will take to the hill on the XSR900 DB40 Prototype on Thursday and Friday before a selection of journalists and VIPs take the machine to the hill on the weekend.

In the 1980s, Yamaha pioneered a new wave of technological advancement in motorcycle engineering by introducing the Deltabox chassis in their Grand Prix race machines.

This technology would soon filter down to road bikes, and now, 40 years on, the Deltabox style design remains at the heart of many Yamaha motorcycles.

Based on the XSR900, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype named to celebrate 40 years of the Deltabox chassis is powered by the award-winning 890cc CP3 triple-cylinder engine, housed in the very latest version of the Deltabox style frame.

The name Deltabox comes from the amalgamation of the word Delta, the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, represented by a triangle and the word box.

From a side view, the Deltabox is formed of a triangle linking the head pipe to the swingarm pivot while the cross-section is box-shaped. This relationship between the steering head and the pivot point offers outstanding rigidity and feedback where a rider will need it most. The cross-shaped box section allows for a greater surface area while providing lighter weight and a higher level of rigidity.

Yamaha debuted the Deltabox chassis in their 1982 YZR500 OW61 Grand Prix machine, while the frames first appearance in a production racer came just three years later, the TZR250, bringing the characteristics of the YZR factory race machinery to the road. The Deltabox has since become synonymous with Yamahas Supersport models, including the revolutionary R1 launched 25 years ago this year.

The XSR900 DB40 Prototype is the latest model based on the XSR900 platform to pay homage to Yamahas racing identity. Last month, custom house caferacersofinstagram unveiled their first Yard Built for Good project at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club Show, a customised XSR900 harking back to Yamahas Grand Prix racers of the 80s and 90s.

This followed the unveiling of a range of Yamaha Genuine Accessories which transformed the standard XSR900 into a RACER with a caf racer style mini fairing and race-styled single seat cover. This XSR900 RACER made its debut at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Show before legendary French Grand Prix racer Christian Sarron took to the famous Wheels and Waves Punks Peak race in June.

<title>Yamaha Motor Adopts Newly Developed Eco-Friendly Recycled Polypropylene as a Raw Material</title>

<description>Yamaha Motor Adopts Newly Developed Eco-Friendly Recycled Polypropylene as a Raw Material
Steps towards employing more carbon-neutral raw materials beginning with ASEAN market commuter models

Yamaha Motor announced today that it has succeeded in developing a high-quality and environmentally friendly recycled polypropylene (PP) material which can be used for the main exterior bodywork for motorcycles. The Company will begin using the new raw material with the main 2023 commuter models for ASEAN markets.

This eco-friendly recycled PP material is made only from pre-consumer materials* with a traceable manufacturing history and no risk of containing environmentally hazardous substances, such as purging compounds** and scraps, generated in the production processes of petrochemical and molding manufacturers.

Resin materials are often used for the exterior bodywork of motorcycles, and PP materials account for about half of these parts, making it a major raw material for the Company. Yamaha Motor has been driving the development and the use of recycled PP in its products for some time now, but this newly developed material offers even higher levels of strength and quality looks compared to conventional recycled materials. It can also be used for areas requiring greater aesthetic appeal.

With the use of this eco-friendly recycled PP going forward, Yamaha Motor plans to raise the usage ratio of such recycled materials in motorcycles and gradually adopt the material in other product categories as well.

In line with the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050, Yamaha Motor is aiming to achieve carbon neutrality*** throughout all of its business activitiesincluding its entire supply chainby 2050. To realize this, the Company has set a goal of switching to 100% sustainable materials by 2050, and will expand its efforts to adopt green and other recycled materials for its products.

* Raw materials, which have not reached customers, and are supplied especially for their use in recycled final materials

** Intermediary materials produced during resin synthesis

*** Emissions as a direct result of business activities (Scope 1 and 2) and emissions outside of these (Scope 3)
