The Ducati Streetfighter V2 S is the Panigale V2 with the fairings removed and the handlebars raised, which turns a focused superbike into something you can genuinely ride every day. It is the lightest Streetfighter Ducati has built, and that shows the moment you turn into a corner.
Power comes from the 890cc Superquadro L-twin, producing 153hp at 10,750rpm and 101.4Nm of torque at 9,000rpm, a tune marginally softened from the Panigale to suit the upright riding position and the roads this bike is meant for. Losing the fairing leaves the mechanicals alone but transforms the experience: the twin’s hard edged note is right there in front of you, and the raised bars let you lean on the midrange along roads where a full superbike would be wasted. The chassis is based on a monocoque frame, the structure that lets Ducati keep the weight so low. Telescopic forks and a monoshock deliver composure over the broken surfaces that make up most British back roads, and twin front discs provide braking that matches the performance. On 120/70-ZR17 front rubber, at 200kg kerb weight with an 845mm seat, it steers with very little effort and stays stable as the pace rises, which is exactly the balance a naked sports bike needs. At that weight it is roughly 18kg lighter than the previous generation, and the difference is felt most at the point of turn in, where the bike simply falls into a corner.
The 17 litre tank gives it real range, and the wide bars make traffic and town riding far easier than the Panigale’s clip on bars ever could. A bidirectional quickshifter lets you change up and down without the clutch, which keeps the drive unbroken through a series of bends and makes the bike far less tiring over distance.
