The Premier Biking magazine for Women is born

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

A magazine aimed purely at women motorbike enthusiasts was launched at this year’s Bulldog Bash which took place at the Shakespeare County Raceway, Long Marston, Nr Stratford on Avon on 10th, 11th, 12th &13th August 2006.

Packed full of exciting features, product reviews, tips and advice, stories along with profiles, competitions, giveaways, news, holiday diaries and ideas plus much more, BIKERESS is the ideal accessory for any women biker enthusiasts and just perfect for your panniers.

Tracy Kearley Editor for BIKERESS spoke of the excitement and aspirations she has for her latest venture;

Having been a biker for eight years, I had the idea of producing a bike magazine for women over four years ago, but due to lots of other things happening in my life it remained on the back burner, which probably wasn¹t a bad thing as I think it may have been a bit premature back then.

A few years on and with an increase in the popularity of motorcycling among women, it seems the perfect opportunity. And so BIKERESS is born!

The reason I wanted to launch BIKERESS is because there doesn¹t seem to be any magazines available to women. I know lots of women read the magazines available on the shelves at the moment, but they don¹t seem to cater much for the female variety!

My aim is that the magazine will become a part of every BIKERESS’s life and it will provide lots of useful information, creating a community and getting the readers involved with the magazine. I want it to have something for everyone, whether you are a new motorcyclist, experienced, a pillion or simply a woman with an interest in bikes.

Pipercross Backing 675 Triple Challenge

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

The word from Pipercross, who are supplying air filters to the race bikes in the Triumph Daytona 675 Triple Challenge;

PIPERCROSS ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL SUPPLIER TO 675 TRIPLE CHALLENGE

Pipercross are pleased to be chosen as the official air filter sponsor to the 675 Triple Challenge, promoted by T3 Racing.

The stunning Triumph Daytona 675 is the weapon of choice for the Triple Challenge.

As the organiser of this prestigious series, T3 Racing not only hopes to attract some of the most gifted young riders in the country, but also and uniquely for a series of this kind, open the door to some exceptionally talented but more mature riders.

T3 Racing spokesperson Tony Scott said:

“The Triumph Daytona 675 came from nowhere in terms of production and has taken everyone by surprise, whilst heralded as a great road bike it has already shown its intentions on the track and this can only add to the value of this forthcoming series. I for one cannot wait to hear thirty eight howling triples descending upon premier race tracks in the UK and to show exactly what they are capable of. To build a motorcycle that can get close the Japanese is an achievement, to build something that (by our MRO results) can beat them is quite something.This series intends to give a broad spectrum of riders the chance to show off a superb British product as well as their own talents on an even playing field, after the World Cup lord only knows we need it.

I am sure that the performance of this Hinckley Triple coupled with the pride we have in all things British will ensure full grids and lots of close racing action. ”

Go Girl!

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

The news from Maria Costello, who is keen to break more records at the Isle of Man;

The Isle of Man’s fastest woman racer aims to be the first female to win an Isle of Man solo race.

Maria Costello already holds a Guinness World Record as the fastest lady to lap the Isle of Man TT course. Last year she finished third and made history by becoming the first woman to stand on the podium. This year she will be aiming to break records and become the first woman to win a solo race around the infamous TT course.

Costello will be competing in two races at this years event. Her first race will be the Junior where she will be looking to improve on her record lap of 114.73mph onboard her RLR Motorsports tuned Bering Honda CBR600RR. In the Ultra Lightweight race she will ride yet another 400 from the RLR Motorsports stable, last year Maria finished third on an RLR Honda RVF400, this year she is riding the injected RLR Honda CBR400i kindly loaned to her by owner/racer Mark Hornsey. Costello has already competed on this bike in her debut at the Southern 100 where she had a solid finish, as the 7th 400 to cross the line and 15th overall in the combined 125cc/400cc race.

This event means so much to me, I love racing the TT course and I’ve been looking forward to doing just that since the start of the season. I had a set back at the start of 2006, breaking my collarbone while practicing in France at Le Man, which resulted in an operation, but my recovery was amazing thanks to great surgery and rehab. So now, with my goals in sight, I will go and race my favourite track with the aim of achieving them.

Costello is no stranger to the Manx GP having first competed in the event back in 1996 when she finished 10th in the Manx Senior Newcomers Race. In 2002 Maria officially took the record of the fastest woman at the Manx GP recording a fastest lap of 110.25mph. Next time round, in 2003, Maria beat her existing lap record and clocked up 113.52mph. In 2004 Costello became the TT’s fastest ever woman and headed up the top ten at the Manx GP, finishing the senior event in 8th place and last year she made history by finishing third in the Ultra Lightweight race.

Maria and her mechanic, Andy Grimshaw, head off to the Isle of Man on the 17th August to set up in time for practice which starts on Saturday the 19th and runs until August 26th. Her first race is the Junior Manx Grand Prix on Wednesday 30th of August on her Bering Honda CBR600RR. Costello then finishes off race week with the Ultra Lightweight race on Friday 1st September. Practice and race times can be found on www.iommgp.com or by listening to Manx Radio online at www.manxradio.com.

Maria would like to say thank you to all of her sponsors and to new sponsor MUSASHI and special thanks to Andy Grimshaw for his hard work in the run up to this event and to Andy peck for the amazing paintwork.
